The innovations aim to boost efficiency, expand into flexible packaging

NETHERLANDS – MPS Systems, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of flexographic and hybrid printing presses, is set to launch its EF Packaging press platform and Performance Ecosystem.
The new offerings aim to enhance efficiency, improve print quality, and support converters in expanding into flexible packaging markets while prioritizing sustainability and profitability.
The EF Packaging press, an evolution of the MPS EF narrow web series, targets flexible packaging and shrink sleeve applications with an extended web width of 26 inches.
According to MPS, this platform enables converters to produce flexible packaging, wraparound labels, shrink sleeves, and in-mold labels without compromising speed or quality.
It incorporates enhanced mid-web capabilities, advanced automation, and real-time performance monitoring via MPSConnect, allowing operators to optimize production processes efficiently.
In a statement, Richard Miedema, global sales director at MPS, said, “The EF Packaging press helps customers expand their product portfolio into new segments, delivering low-cost prints at high speeds with quick change-overs.”
The system is designed to meet growing demand for versatile packaging solutions, particularly in short-run production.
The Performance Ecosystem will provide converters with tools to measure and improve operational efficiency, sustainability, and profitability.
It integrates data insights, operator training, and workflow optimization to guide businesses toward better performance.
Kelvin van den Bunt, performance manager at MPS, noted that many converters seek improvement but lack a clear starting point.
He explained that the ecosystem offers a structured approach to prioritize changes for measurable results.
The presses will be launched at the Labelexpo Europe 2025, hosting over 600 exhibitors and 35,000 visitors from 138 countries, marking its first edition in Barcelona.
The event will showcase advancements in label printing, flexible packaging, and folding carton converting. MPS, exhibiting at stand 4E41, offers live demonstrations of the EF Packaging press and real-world data from MPSConnect users to highlight practical benefits for converters.
A recent industry update indicates that flexible packaging demand is growing due to consumer preferences for recyclable and lightweight materials.
In addition, modern narrow web UV flexo presses, like those from MPS, are well-suited for producing stand-up pouches, sachets, and lidding films, enabling converters to meet these market trends without significant new investments.
