The new site will manufacture recyclable cushioning solutions and trays designed to optimize primary packaging.
MEXICO – Global packaging solutions provider Nefab has strengthened its sustainable packaging operations by launching a 5,400m² production facility in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Located in the northern industrial zone of Pinar, the new facility is set to enhance the company’s capabilities in design, production, and recycling of environmentally friendly packaging materials.
This expansion comes in response to increasing demand for cost-efficient and sustainable packaging solutions, particularly in thin-gauge thermoforming.
The new site will manufacture recyclable cushioning solutions and trays designed to optimize primary packaging, ensuring both protection and material efficiency.
With the integration of automated thermoforming technology, Nefab aims to scale production capacity while maintaining high sustainability standards.
Once fully operational, the facility is expected to employ around 50 people, reinforcing the company’s commitment to local job creation and economic growth.
A key feature of the new facility is its closed-loop recycling system, which allows for the collection, grinding, and reformation of used packaging into new sheets for reuse.
This process ensures that materials are continuously repurposed, reducing waste and promoting a sustainable packaging life cycle.
As part of its long-term environmental strategy, Nefab has committed to incorporating 100% recycled content into multiple packaging materials.
The company also plans to expand its recycling approach across all material types, further aligning with its vision of minimizing environmental impact while meeting customer needs.
Customer-centric engineering and supply chain efficiency
The facility’s engineering team utilizes proprietary tooling and design expertise to create customized packaging solutions tailored to specific industry requirements.
This allows Nefab to offer solutions that not only reduce material usage but also lower costs and enhance overall packaging performance.
Eric Wickman, Regional Managing Director of Nefab Latin America, emphasized the strategic importance of the new facility, stating, “This facility strengthens our ability to provide engineered solutions tailored to customers’ needs.
“By managing the entire process in-house – from design to production and recycling – we help customers reduce material use, costs, and environmental impact.”
Patric Vestlund, Executive Vice President of Nefab Americas, highlighted Mexico’s growing role in global supply chains, adding, “Mexico is experiencing incredible growth, and Guadalajara has become a major hub for technology, manufacturing, and innovation.
“Expanding our capacity here allows us to be where our customers are – reducing logistics costs and improving supply chain efficiency. This is how we work – partnering with clients through our strong engineering backbone to develop tailored solutions that optimize resources, lower costs, and drive sustainability.”
With this latest expansion, Nefab reinforces its commitment to sustainable innovation, positioning itself at the forefront of eco-friendly packaging solutions in Latin America.
