SWITZERLAND – Amcor has introduced the AmFiber Performance Paper stand-up pouch, a sustainable refill pack designed for instant coffee and other dry beverage products.
Initially launched across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), this new packaging solution is part of Amcor’s broader AmFiber Performance Paper range, which focuses on recyclable, paper-based alternatives for dry beverages.
The stand-up pouch is engineered for superior seal integrity and barrier protection, making it an ideal choice for soluble coffee packaging.
With 85% fiber content, the pouch is certified recyclable by both the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) and Aticelca, enabling kerbside recycling in multiple European countries.
Amcor developed the refill pack in response to rising consumer demand for sustainable alternatives, particularly within the coffee segment.
The new pouch allows brands to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of their dry beverage packaging—by approximately 73%.
Designed for both sustainability and retail appeal, the pouch features a sturdy bottom gusset, ensuring excellent shelf presentation and ease of use.
It is also optimized for compatibility with existing coffee packaging machinery, making it an efficient solution for manufacturers.
“This latest addition to the AmFiber family offers coffee and dry beverage brands a more attractive, paper-based packaging solution that is ready for recycling,” said Giorgio Dini, Amcor’s Coffee Marketing Manager.
“By advancing circular refill packaging, we continue to drive innovation in paper-based solutions.”
Beyond coffee packaging, Amcor has been actively expanding its sustainable initiatives.
Last month, the company partnered with Tip Top Bakeries in Australia to introduce bread bags containing 30% recycled plastic.
This initiative aligns with the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS Scheme through a mass balance approach.
Earlier this month, Amcor collaborated with Insymmetry to develop an innovative 2oz retort bottle, addressing the demand for durable, shelf-stable beverage packaging.
This solution, designed for low-acid products like coffee and dairy-based beverages, features Amcor Rigid Packaging’s proprietary StormPanel technology.
Stellify, a beverage brand under Insymmetry, will be the first to adopt the StormPanel technology for its Dulce de Leche Energy and Espresso Energy wellness shots, set to debut at Natural Products Expo West 2025.
