AUSTRALIA – Opal, a leading recycling, paper, and packaging company based in Australia and New Zealand, unveiled advanced digital printing and packaging systems at its recent Innovation Expo.

The event highlighted high-speed printers, laser cutters, and automation tools aimed at accelerating production while enhancing creative packaging solutions.

Customers, suppliers, designers, and creative agencies gathered to explore Opal’s comprehensive capabilities, including design, manufacturing, and nationwide distribution.

The expo featured live demonstrations of high-speed Nozomi printers, Revo digital presses, Highcon laser cutting systems, and iECHO cutting technologies, all integrated with the ESKO Automation Engine for seamless operation.

According to Jamie Weller, Managing Director of Kissel+Wolf, “We’re proud to collaborate with Opal to deliver advanced digital solutions across multiple sites.”

Opal’s investment enables faster production, flexibility for short and large-scale print runs, and high-quality outputs for diverse industries.

David Watson, founder of Watson Design, noted that the combination of smart engineering and exceptional print quality offers exciting possibilities for brand development.

“The technology has been implemented at Opal Specialty Packaging sites in New South Wales, Queensland, and New Zealand, ensuring consistent, high-quality printing and improved freight efficiencies,” Paul Godenzi, Regional General Manager of Specialty Packaging Victoria added.

In a recent development, Opal announced a US$100 million investment in a new high-tech corrugated cardboard packaging facility in Wodonga, Australia, completed in 2023.

The facility, equipped with advanced flexo printing lines and automated systems, produces up to 720,000 square meters of packaging daily, serving industries like fresh produce, food processing, and retail.

This expansion complements Opal’s digital printing advancements, further strengthening its ability to deliver sustainable, high-quality packaging solutions across the region.

By integrating advanced digital technologies and expanding its manufacturing capabilities, the company meets rising demand for efficient, customizable, and eco-friendly packaging.
