Paperworld Middle East introduces new kraft and packaging section

UAE – Paperworld Middle East is gearing up for its 13th edition, running from 12-14 November, with an exciting new addition: the Kraft and Packaging section.

This segment will showcase various kraft papers, sustainable packaging materials, and advanced printing techniques that offer exceptional quality while reducing environmental impact.

According to research by Mordor Intelligence, the Kraft Paper and Packaging Paper market in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) is projected to reach US$10.6 billion by 2025, underscoring the sector’s immense growth potential.

Syed Ali Akbar, Show Director for Paperworld Middle East and Gifts and Lifestyle Middle East, noted, “The introduction of the Kraft and Packaging section responds to the rising demand for sustainable materials as the industry shifts towards eco-friendly practices.

“This addition expands the event’s scope, displaying the entire spectrum of paper products to a global audience.”

Kraft paper, known for its strength, versatility, and biodegradability, is increasingly popular in packaging. The new section will provide a platform for industry leaders to collaborate on innovations and discuss sustainable packaging solutions.

The zone will feature 16 exhibitors, including Navigator, showcasing their eco-friendly gKraft range made from Eucalyptus globulus, offering more recycling cycles than other wood types and certified for food contact.

The Kraft and Packaging sector will also feature prominently at The Hub Forum, where industry experts, including Rohit Ghosh of April Fine, will discuss advancements in paper-based packaging materials.

Under the theme “Crafting Global Connections,” the 2024 edition of Paperworld Middle East will host exhibitors from over 100 countries at the Dubai World Trade Centre, offering attendees the chance to explore cutting-edge products and trends across a range of paper and packaging industries.

The packaging industry in the UAE is seeing significant growth, bolstered by recent investments aimed at sustainable solutions.

In 2023, UAE-based companies invested over US$500 million in eco-friendly packaging, driven by increased demand for recyclable and biodegradable materials.

This shift aligns with global trends and government initiatives to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainability.

In particular, introducing biodegradable plastics, smart packaging, and lightweight materials is transforming the industry.

The UAE’s strategic focus on sustainability has spurred developments like eco-friendly packaging for food and beverages, which now account for a significant portion of the market.

Additionally, events like Paperworld Middle East have highlighted the potential of kraft paper and other sustainable materials, encouraging collaboration and innovation across the sector.

These investments reflect the UAE’s commitment to leading the region in sustainable packaging practices, contributing to both environmental goals and economic growth.
