ProAmpac partners with ScottsMiracle-Gro to advance insecticide packaging

The new packaging design leverages ProAmpac’s chemical- and UV-resistant printing and laminating technology, ensuring durability and product integrity while advancing sustainability.

USA – ProAmpac, a flexible packaging and material science company, has partnered with ScottsMiracle-Gro to introduce a spouted pouch for Ortho Home Defense Max.

The seamless and sustainable packaging solution combines the durability of rigid containers with the efficiency of flexible packaging, providing a convenient and more sustainable option for consumers.

The new packaging design leverages ProAmpac’s chemical- and UV-resistant printing and laminating technology, ensuring durability and product integrity while advancing sustainability.

Developed in close collaboration with ScottsMiracle-Gro, the spouted pouch enables consumers to conveniently refill their existing dispensing system, eliminating the need to purchase a new one.

In this transition from rigid containers to flexible pouches, the new packaging is a significant step towards reducing plastic waste. It uses 90% less plastic, significantly lightens the overall weight, and is better optimised for e-commerce distribution, promoting environmental responsibility.

The pouch delivers the same volume of pest control solution with significantly less environmental impact, as it reduces the plastic required per unit while enhancing user-friendliness.

“Our goal was to create a packaging solution that meets sustainability targets without compromising performance,” said Isha Labhasetwar, product development manager at ProAmpac.

“By transitioning from a rigid container to a flexible pouch, this innovative design not only reduces plastic waste but also improves ease of use for consumers and aligns perfectly with e-commerce logistics.”

The Ortho Home Defense Max spouted pouch sets a new standard for environmentally responsible packaging in the lawn and garden sector, as it is recognised for its innovative design and sustainability.

“The new Ortho Home Defense Max packaging represents a major step forward in sustainability and consumer convenience,” said Keith Miller, senior packaging engineer at ScottsMiracle-Gro.

“By introducing a spouted pouch, we’ve significantly reduced our plastic packaging footprint while ensuring that our customers continue to receive the high-performance pest control solutions they trust.”

The innovation reflects ProAmpac’s ongoing commitment to packaging sustainability, particularly in flexible packaging.

Combining intelligent design with environmental responsibility, the Ortho Home Defense Max spouted pouch redefines sustainable packaging standards within the pest control industry.

Last month, ProAmpac partnered with ScottsMiracle-Gro to introduce a recyclable packaging solution for O.M. Scott & Sons, a trusted name in the garden care products industry.
