ProAmpac unveils Recycle-Ready cheese packaging solution

USA – ProAmpac, a leader in flexible packaging, has introduced its ProActive Recycle-Ready polyolefin-based films designed for high-speed chunk cheese packaging. 

The innovative solution meets the rigorous demands of cheese production while maintaining product freshness and operational efficiency.

The films offer excellent clarity, enabling consumers to view the cheese before purchase. 

They are engineered to endure high temperatures during rapid filling processes and provide strong puncture resistance. 

According to ProAmpac, the advanced sealing technology features a low seal initiation temperature, reducing the risk of leaks on high-speed production lines.

Ebrahim Jalali Dil, global senior innovation manager at ProAmpac, stated, “These specialized films deliver outstanding abrasion resistance and have passed rigorous transportation testing, ensuring dependable product protection from production to distribution.”

The packaging is compatible with polyethylene (PE) recycling streams and can incorporate post-consumer recycled (PCR) material, offering a sustainable choice for cheese producers. 

A report by ProAmpac highlights that the films come with various barrier options tailored to different cheese types and moisture levels, ensuring both freshness and visual appeal on retail shelves.

In a statement, the company noted that the ProActive Recycle-Ready platform builds on its commitment to sustainable packaging. 

The films maintain performance without sacrificing shelf life, making them suitable for dairy brands aiming to balance functionality and environmental responsibility.

ProAmpac has also recently expanded its sustainable offerings. 

In March 2025, the company secured U.S. patents for its ProActive Sustainability technologies, including recyclable solutions for dry and frozen foods, as well as high-barrier retort pouches.

These advancements cater to a range of applications, from pet food to consumer goods, and emphasize mono-material designs for enhanced recyclability.

Additionally, ProAmpac’s portfolio includes Butter Fresh Parchment, a foil-paper-based wrap for dairy products, and a spouted pouch for insecticides that uses less plastic than traditional options. 

The company also developed an oil-free, moisture-protection film, further diversifying its sustainable packaging solutions.

ProAmpac will showcase its latest innovations, including the ProActive Recycle-Ready films, at PACK EXPO 2025, scheduled for September 29 to October 1 in Chicago.
