USA – US-based packaging machinery solutions provider ProMach has acquired Italy-based flexible packaging machinery maker Reepack to expand its flexible packaging portfolio.
The deal follows ProMach earlier acquisition of Serpa Packaging Solutions, a US-based company that provides cartoning and end-of-line packaging systems.
It will also enable ProMach to continue its expansion in the food packaging space and strengthen its position as a single-source supplier for protein-packaging automation.
The company will also benefit from Reepack’s key application technology in flow wrapping, as well as expand its existing capabilities in horizontal thermoforming.
“Reepack is a solid fit within the ProMach family. Reepack’s team has developed some wonderful technology, and we are excited to help them build distribution and continue to grow worldwide,” said Mark Anderson, ProMach President, and CEO.
“We are excited about their engineering capabilities, and we intend to continue to invest in new product development.”
Following the integration, Reepack will join six other product brands under ProMach’s Flexibles & Trays business line.
Reepack’s primary product categories include a wide selection of models for different package types, end-product sizes, and production speeds.
The firm’s product line is also compatible with Ossid, a ProMach product brand that specializes in tray sealing and overwrapping solutions for case-ready products.
As part of the deal, Ossid vice president and general manager Ernie Newell will be promoted to senior vice president of Tray Packaging, supervising both Reepack and Ossid operations along with continuing to handle general manager duties at Ossid.
Also joining ProMach is Livio Valli, the current president and CEO of Reepack, as vice president and general manager of Reepack.
The company will continue to be based in Italy, with 71 of its employees joining the ProMach workforce.
“When we match this with Ossid’s strong product portfolio and ProMach parts and service capabilities and customer reach, the future opportunities to deliver exceptional customer solutions and service are very exciting,” said Ernie Newell, Vice President and General Manager of Ossid.
ProMach’s capabilities in sustainable packaging are in line with the government’s effort to increase the use of recyclable material in packaging.
