QATAR – The Ministry of Municipality (MoM) has unveiled plans to host the 4th ‘Recycling Towards Sustainability Conference and Exhibition’ 2024, scheduled for February 14 and 15.
This prestigious event, themed “Sustainability is our legacy for future generations,” will be held under the patronage of Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah.
The conference aims to gather governmental and semi-governmental institutions, private sector entities, local factories, and a consortium of experts and specialists in waste management and treatment.
Dr. Fayqa Abdullah Ashkanani, Director of the Public Relations Department at MoM, conveyed the conference’s mission to promote sound waste management practices and highlight cutting-edge methods in waste management while stressing the importance of sustainable practices.
The event’s agenda comprises workshops, seminars, and lectures led by esteemed local, regional, and international specialists.
These sessions will facilitate the exchange of insights and experiences in waste management and recycling.
Muqbil Madhur Al Shammari, Director of the General Cleanliness Department, unveiled the conference’s focal points, encompassing nine key topics on sustainability and recycling.
These discussions will cover a range of critical areas, including artificial intelligence and technological innovations in recycling, the circular economy, marketing strategies for recycled products, urban recycling initiatives, and crisis management in waste disposal.
Al Shammari highlighted the conference’s intention to spotlight successful waste management legislation from various countries, private sector initiatives in recycling and sustainability, strategies to mitigate landfill usage, and innovative solutions for organic waste treatment.
Hassan Al Nasr, Assistant Director of the Waste Recycling and Treatment Department at MoM, announced an accompanying exhibition featuring 39 pavilions showcasing governmental institutions, private sector entities, and factories with sustainability initiatives.
The Ministry of Municipality’s pavilion will display its significant accomplishments, complemented by awareness videos aimed at encouraging waste reduction and the adoption of recycled materials.
Al Nasr emphasized MoM’s continued efforts to bolster sustainability and optimize resource utilization.
Notably, the construction of a new sanitary and engineering landfill in the Mesaieed area, adhering to the highest engineering and environmental standards, aims to enhance waste management practices.
Furthermore, a waste sorting station set to open in Al Khor signifies a transformative milestone in waste sorting and recycling endeavors. This comprehensive approach underscores Qatar’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
