Redington taps APL Machinery as HP Indigo North India partner

The partnership arrives as India’s packaging sector undergoes rapid digital transformation, with growing demand for short runs and customisation across FMCG, pharma, and e-commerce.

INDIA – Redington has appointed Faridabad-based APL Machinery as its authorised sales partner for HP Indigo sheetfed digital printing solutions across North India, aiming to accelerate adoption in commercial printing and folding carton packaging segments.

The partnership will help customers evaluate digital printing opportunities, understand application potential, and develop scalable production strategies that complement existing operations.

The commercial print and packaging industries are increasingly adopting hybrid manufacturing models that combine offset and digital technologies to meet changing customer requirements, with HP Indigo enabling printers to profitably address short-run production, variable data printing, versioning, personalisation, and premium packaging applications while maintaining exceptional print quality.

Strategic Expansion in North India

Ramesh KS, vice-president of digital printing at Redington, stated that North India represents one of the most dynamic and rapidly evolving print markets in the country.

By partnering with APL Machinery, the company is expanding its ability to engage with printers and packaging converters, helping them leverage HP Indigo technology to enhance productivity, enter new markets, and unlock sustainable growth opportunities.

APL Machinery will work closely with Redington Digital Printing Group to bring digital printing expertise closer to customers throughout North India.

The HP Indigo sheetfed digital presses enable packaging converters to offer premium finishing effects including metallic, embossing and textured surfaces that enhance brand appeal while reducing setup waste associated with traditional printing methods.

Market Context and Industry Trends

The partnership comes as India’s packaging industry continues its rapid digital transformation, with demand for shorter print runs and customised packaging increasing across FMCG, pharmaceutical and e-commerce sectors.

HP Indigo’s digital printing technology offers converters the ability to produce high-quality packaging with faster turnaround times and reduced inventory costs, supporting brands’ needs for agility and sustainability.

The collaboration positions both companies to capitalise on the growing demand for sustainable and customised packaging solutions in the region.

HP Indigo presses are particularly well-suited for producing personalised packaging for limited-edition products, seasonal promotions and targeted marketing campaigns, enabling brands to differentiate themselves in competitive retail environments.

The partnership will also provide local technical support and application development expertise, helping converters optimise their digital printing workflows for maximum productivity and quality.
