Stratus Packaging acquires French label specialist Freppel Imprimeur

The acquisition gives Stratus new development opportunities in Alsace, eastern France and Germany.

FRANCE – Stratus Packaging Group has strengthened its position in the European labels and printed packaging market with the acquisition of Freppel Imprimeur, a France-based label and printed media manufacturer founded in 1968.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Freppel Imprimeur employs around 60 people and operates from a 5,000m² production facility in Alsace, a strategic location that offers proximity not only to eastern France but also to neighbouring Germany.

The company specializes in the production of self-adhesive, dry and wrap-around labels, alongside a range of commercial print products including catalogues and brochures.

The acquisition aligns with Stratus Packaging Group’s broader growth strategy, which the company says is focused on strengthening customer proximity, expanding geographical coverage and creating stronger industrial synergies across its operations.

Following the transaction, Stratus Packaging reports annual turnover of more than €100 million (US$119 million) and a combined workforce of over 520 employees.

Stratus Packaging CEO Isidore Leiser said the deal reflects the group’s long-term ambition to grow both organically and through targeted acquisitions.

“Since the creation of the Stratus Packaging Group, our ambition has been to develop both organically and through external growth, while respecting the fundamental principles that still guide us today: packaging solutions adapted to each client and each challenge, a strong sense of belonging, overall performance, and continuous improvement of our employees,” he said.

Freppel Imprimeur brings a broad range of technical capabilities to the group. Its services include hot foil stamping, embossing and varnishing, supported by an in-house prepress department and creative studio.

The company works with multiple printing technologies, including offset, screen printing, flexography and digital printing, enabling it to serve diverse and demanding applications.

Its customer base spans several high-value sectors, notably food and beverages, wines and spirits, and luxury goods, markets where premium label design, finishing and material performance are critical to brand differentiation.

Stratus said the integration of Freppel Imprimeur is expected to reinforce its offering in these segments, particularly where conventional and digital printing technologies intersect.

Commenting on the transaction, Freppel Imprimeur managing director Denis Maciuk described the acquisition as a natural fit.

“This integration strengthens our complementarity in the wine, spirits and luxury markets, where conventional and digital technologies fully express their potential,” he said.

“This merger quickly proved to be an obvious choice, as Freppel Imprimeur and the Stratus Packaging Group share common values: family-owned businesses, the same spirit of innovation and investment, commitment, customer service, and team complementarity.”

The deal comes amid continued consolidation in the European labels and packaging sector, as groups seek to expand regional footprints, diversify technical capabilities and better serve brand owners demanding shorter runs, premium finishes and sustainable solutions.
