Made from 100% ECF virgin fibres, the range offers food-contact options and complies with BfR XXXVI, FDA § 176.170, and EC 1935/2004.

POLAND – MM Board & Paper has launched MM POLAR PLUS, a machine-finished bleached kraft paper available in 40, 45 and 50 gsm, designed for food and non-food packaging applications including bakery bags, fast-food wrapping and single-use pouches.
The new product line, manufactured at the company’s Kwidzyn mill in Poland, is intended for converters and packaging manufacturers that need lower-weight paper with consistent quality and processing performance.
The range is made from 100% ECF virgin fibres and offers options for food-contact applications, complying with BfR XXXVI, FDA § 176.170 and EC Regulation 1935/2004.
MM POLAR PLUS can be used as a substrate for PE coating, film lamination and other barrier treatments.
Lower Grammages and Application Flexibility
The paper has a smooth surface and good formation, with runnability across printing, coating, varnishing and bag-making operations.
Any added grease, moisture or oxygen resistance comes from coatings or laminations, while the paper provides the surface and processing properties required for further conversion.
The product is suitable for bakery bags, fast-food packaging, food wrapping papers, single-use pouches and small bags, as well as other food and non-food formats.
The uniform brightness across all three grammages helps maintain dependable print performance and a consistent visual appearance across different packaging formats.
Market Context and Production Capabilities
MM Board & Paper UFP and PKP sales vice-president Markus Nöcker stated that MM POLAR PLUS extends the MM POLAR family into lighter grammages, giving customers more flexibility for applications where material efficiency, converting performance, and food-contact suitability are all important.
The Kwidzyn mill, which possesses ISO 9001 quality management certification and chain-of-custody certifications, produces the paper using 100% renewable energy sources for its pulp production.
The launch follows MM Board & Paper’s introduction of ALASKA BRIGHT NEW, a folding boxboard produced at MM Kotkamills in Finland, which uses reduced weight in selected grammages while retaining print results and converting characteristics.
The company continues to expand its portfolio of fibre-based material solutions as Europe’s leading cartonboard producer, with a focus on material efficiency and sustainable packaging innovations.
