Amcor deploys silicon valve cap across ten Choví sauce lines

The cap is made entirely from polypropylene through bi-injection moulding, producing a two-tone finish with a curved profile designed to enhance shelf presence and handling.

SPAIN – Amcor has supplied Spanish sauce maker Choví with a custom flip-top closure, using an internal silicon valve to govern how sauce leaves the bottle across ten product lines sold for salads, barbecues and snack pairings.

The built-in silicon valve controls flow during dispensing, allowing consumers to pour without sudden surges or uncontrolled release.

Choví’s range spans noticeably different consistencies, from dense allioli and Ajonesa to thinner ketchup and Cheddar variants, and a single valve-led closure design accommodates that spread without requiring separate cap specifications for each recipe.

Regulating flow at the closure rather than relying on bottle geometry gives the brand consistent dispensing performance across a portfolio where viscosity varies considerably between products.

Bi-Injection Moulding Produces Two-Tone Monomaterial Cap

The cap is manufactured entirely from polypropylene through a bi-injection moulding process, producing a two-tone finish with a curved profile intended to support shelf presence and handling.

Using a single polymer across the component keeps the closure compatible with established rigid plastic recovery streams, sidestepping the material separation problems that arise when caps combine different plastics or include metal components.

The two-tone effect also delivers visual differentiation on shelf without added labelling or secondary decoration steps.

Closure Covers Ten Choví Varieties

The closure is being deployed across Choví lines formulated for salads, barbecues and snack pairings.

The range covers La Brava, Allioli, Cheddar, Kebab White, Ajonesa, Barbacoa, Ketchup, César, Yogur and Miel y Mostaza. Choví, established in 1953, is an existing commercial partner of Amcor, and the packaging firm noted that its production presence in Spain influenced the company’s selection.

Local Manufacturing and Shelf Appeal Emphasised

David Moya Aparicio, logistics director general at Choví, said Amcor was a trusted partner that had delivered a flip-top closure enhancing the user experience, adding that local knowledge and manufacturing capabilities meant the innovation was made in Spain for a Spanish brand.

Mirko Todeschi, sales director at Amcor, said the closure was created to appeal to consumers in several ways, describing it as a fresh look for Choví that delivered shelf differentiation against rival sauce brands.

He noted that ease of use drove the design, allowing controlled pouring.

Separately, Amcor and Dow partnered last month to help brands and retailers move faster toward lower-carbon packaging, combining Amcor’s development and manufacturing capabilities with Dow’s polyethylene portfolio and carbon footprint expertise.
