Kenya Wine Agencies Limited moves Casa Buena Sangria to glass bottles

The packaging change reflects a broader shift among East African beverage producers toward premium formats, as competition intensifies across wine, spirits, and ready-to-drink categories.

KENYA – Kenya Wine Agencies Limited has shifted Casa Buena Sangria from Tetra packaging to 750 millilitre glass bottles, extending a premiumisation drive that began with its Caprice Wine format change.

The company said the transition formed part of a continued premiumisation journey aligned with modern consumer demands and lifestyles, following the Caprice Wine in a Bottle revamp.

Glass packaging typically signals higher perceived value on shelf, particularly in the alcoholic beverage category, where container format influences how consumers assess quality before purchase.

Tetra formats remain common for value-tier and single-serve wine products, but glass carries stronger associations with premium positioning in social and gifting occasions.

Consumer Demand for Elevated Social Experiences Cited

Kenya Wine Agencies said that as lifestyles and social spaces evolved, consumers were asking for modern, elevated experiences reflecting how they celebrate moments together.

It described the relaunch as a fresh chapter for the brand, retaining the same taste and quality consumers had always enjoyed. Casa Buena is positioned as a vibrant sangria with lush fruity aromas and subtle citrus undertones.

Brand Aims to Refine Shared Moments

The company said that by elevating Casa Buena into glass, it was crafting better experiences that bring people together, creating and refining shared moments.

Sangria occupies a distinct position in the ready-to-drink and wine-based beverage segment, where fruit-forward flavour profiles appeal to consumers seeking accessible formats for social occasions without the formality of traditional wine service.

Product Available at Major Retail Outlets Nationwide

The new look Casa Buena Sangria 750ml bottle is now available at major retail outlets across the country.

The company added that great moments were best savoured mindfully, stating that it continuously advocated for consumers to enjoy responsibly.

The packaging change reflects broader movement among East African beverage producers toward premium formats as competition intensifies across wine, spirits and ready-to-drink categories.

Bottle transitions also affect supply chains, requiring updated filling lines, closure specifications, labelling systems and distribution handling compared with lighter Tetra formats, though glass offers advantages in shelf presence and perceived quality for brands targeting higher-value segments.
