Algus unveils high-performance paper-folding machine to boost eco-friendly packaging

Algus’ machine is specifically designed to form and seal paper-based packaging with exceptional structural integrity.

USA – In a bold step toward sustainable packaging innovation, Algus Packaging has introduced a new custom-built, high-performance paper-folding machine, engineered to support the industry’s transition away from plastic.

The new system is central to Algus’ mission of delivering environmentally responsible solutions without compromising on quality or performance.

The advanced machine is pivotal in supporting major brands like Duracell, which is shifting toward all-paper blister packaging as part of its broader sustainability goals.

Algus’ machine is specifically designed to form and seal paper-based packaging with exceptional structural integrity. It offers a durable, plastic-free alternative that meets today’s consumer and regulatory demands.

According to the company, the machine operates at high speeds with precision-engineered control, ensuring a clean, upscale appearance that enhances product presentation on retail shelves.

One of its standout features is the ability to create sealed paper corners, which significantly improve product protection while eliminating the need for plastic reinforcement, which is traditionally a weak point in many paper-based formats.

The machine is optimized for large-scale manufacturing environments, combining speed, reliability, and adaptability.

Its user-friendly, programmable interface is equipped with memory-saving functions, fault detection capabilities, and customization options to meet manufacturers’ diverse needs. This ensures operational efficiency and consistent quality output.

The system accommodates secondary packaging enhancements such as product locators, inserts, and RFID labels in addition to primary packaging, making it a comprehensive solution for brands aiming to integrate smart packaging features with sustainability.

“At Algus, we take pride in engineering custom packaging solutions that push the boundaries of the industry,” said Rod MacNeille, CEO of Algus Packaging.

“Our Custom Paper Folding Machine delivers sustainable packaging that protects products and enhances their presentation and shelf appeal.”

Algus Packaging, a member of the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI), operates out of a 330,000-square-foot production facility in DeKalb, Illinois.

The facility serves various industries, enabling the company to meet diverse client needs while pioneering environmentally conscious packaging innovations.

By combining automation, flexibility, and sustainability, Algus aims to empower more brands to transition from plastic to paper without compromising performance, underscoring its role as a forward-thinking leader in the evolving packaging landscape.
