Ardagh Glass Packaging partners with CAP Glass to advance glass recycling in North America

CAP Glass will supply AGP-North America with high-quality cullet — recycled glass fragments.

USA – Ardagh Glass Packaging-North America (AGP-North America), a division of Ardagh Group, has announced a long-term partnership with CAP Glass aimed at bolstering glass recycling infrastructure across the United States.

The collaboration is a significant step forward in AGP-North America’s ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable, closed-loop glass production system.

At the heart of the partnership is a comprehensive initiative to reduce the volume of glass waste ending up in landfills.

Through the agreement, CAP Glass will supply AGP-North America with high-quality cullet — recycled glass fragments — that are critical for producing new glass containers.

CAP Glass will leverage advanced processing technologies to ensure that the cullet meets the stringent quality standards required for AGP-North America’s manufacturing operations.

“This venture will yield remarkable results for all parties and contribute to our shared goal of reducing glass going to landfills and seeing it made into new glass containers,” said Shawn Pilla, owner of CAP Glass.

By repurposing glass into new packaging, the partnership not only reduces waste and emissions but also supports the conservation of natural resources like sand, soda ash, and limestone.

Additionally, the use of cullet significantly lowers energy consumption in glass manufacturing, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint.

According to Derek Wall, Vice President of Procurement at AGP-North America, “Ardagh appreciates the valuable contributions from CAP Glass, as well as their forward-thinking approach and dedication to bringing this vision to life.

“Their innovative ideas and long-term vision have played a pivotal role in making this collaboration a success.”

This initiative aligns with AGP-North America’s broader sustainability strategy, which focuses on increasing recycled content in its glass packaging, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting community recycling programs.

AGP-North America has already implemented several sustainability-driven projects. These include investments in energy-efficient furnace technology, lightweighting of glass containers to reduce material use, and collaborations with municipal and regional recycling programs to improve glass collection rates.

The company is also an active participant in industry-wide sustainability coalitions, such as the Glass Recycling Coalition and Close the Glass Loop, which work to strengthen the circularity of glass across the supply chain.

With more than 125 years of experience in U.S. glass manufacturing, AGP-North America continues to offer a diverse portfolio of premium glass bottles in various colors, sizes, and finishes — now with an even greater emphasis on sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Through partnerships like the one with CAP Glass, AGP-North America is reinforcing its role as a leader in advancing circular packaging solutions.
