The acquisition integrates KM Packaging into the ALPLAinject division, offering injection-moulded parts for safe, affordable, and sustainable packaging solutions.

AUSTRIA/GERMANY – ALPLA, a global leader in the development and production of innovative plastic packaging solutions, has signed an agreement to acquire closure manufacturer KM Packaging, thereby strengthening its ALPLAinject division.
The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed by the parties involved.
Both parties signed the transaction on June 23, 2025, and await regulatory approval from the competition authorities.
According to ALPLA, the international plastic packaging specialist will now also manufacture high-quality closures for tubes, bottles, and jars, including those in clean rooms if desired, at six additional sites in Germany, Austria, Poland, and the US.
“The smooth combination of close customer relationships, technological expertise and a focus on sustainability aligns closely with our profile,” remarked Nicolas Lehner, ALPLA CCO.
“The added know-how will boost our role as a leading developer, manufacturer and recycler of plastic packaging.”
KM Packaging was Founded through the merger of family-owned companies Kutterer Kunststofftechnik and Mauer AG in 2008 and is based in Ubstadt-Weiher, Germany.
The acquisition integrates KM Packaging into the ALPLAinject division, offering injection-moulded parts for safe, affordable, and sustainable packaging solutions.
Additionally, it is also expected that ALPLA’s production will increase significantly, with an annual output of more than 6.5 billion injection-moulded parts and the integration of approximately 500 employees into ALPLAinject operations across its facilities.
The company offers a range of both standard and tailor-made closures, caps, dispensing solutions, and jars crafted from polypropylene and polyethylene (PE), with a focus on the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and food sectors.
It also provides screw caps and flip-top closures crafted from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), designed specifically for monomaterial packaging solutions.
The existing management team, led by Managing Director Klaus Mauer, will continue under ALPLA, ensuring continuity in operations and customer service.
Mauer stated, “We and ALPLA are tradition-filled family companies sharing values such as trust, responsibility and extremely high-quality standards. Integration into the ALPLA ‘Family of Pioneers’ will secure the future of the sites, jobs and customer relationships.”
In February 2025, ALPLA took a significant step towards global expansion with the opening of a new facility in Thailand, marking its increased presence in Asia and promising further growth opportunities.
