THAILAND – ALPLA is enhancing its footprint in the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific region by opening a second location in Thailand.
The state-of-the-art plant in Chachoengsao, near Bangkok, spans 24,000 square meters and integrates all production technologies, a technical center for product development, and STUDIOa, the company’s innovative one-stop design shop.
This new facility boosts ALPLA’s capacity, broadens its portfolio, and strengthens its ability to deliver safe, sustainable, affordable full-system plastic packaging solutions to various industries.
ALPLA is further cementing its presence in Southeast Asia with the new plant. After a year of construction, the plant is operational and features production and administrative functions.
In addition to core manufacturing, the facility houses the first STUDIOa in the Asia-Pacific region, enabling ALPLA to collaborate with customers on innovative packaging solutions.
As the new hub for ALPLA in Thailand, the Chachoengsao site replaces the previous headquarters in Prachinburi. It expands the company’s technological offerings to include injection moulding (IM) and one-step injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM).
“Our journey in Thailand began over 20 years ago, marking the start of our Southeast Asia operations. This new flagship plant in Chachoengsao represents a significant step in our growth and provides a comprehensive solution to meet our customers’ needs while opening new market opportunities,” said ALPLA CEO Philipp Lehner.
The opening ceremony, held on 11 February 2025, welcomed around 200 distinguished guests, including Pongpol Yodmuangcharoen (Secretary to the Minister of Industry), Austrian Ambassador Wilhelm Donko, and Michael Friedl from the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
Increasing capacity and expanding portfolio
At the Chachoengsao facility, ALPLA will produce high-quality plastic bottles, preforms, closures, and injection-moulded parts, leveraging its full range of core technologies.
A key focus is the newly introduced one-step injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM) and injection moulding (IM) technologies.
“This all-in-one concept strengthens our leadership as a system provider for sustainable, cost-effective plastic packaging. Chachoengsao combines cutting-edge technology, exceptional quality, and top-tier customer service under one roof, positioning us to expand our market share and enter new segments,” said Roland Wallner, ALPLA Managing Director for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
Since the beginning of 2025, all production lines at the Chachoengsao plant have been running at full capacity. Over 190 skilled workers are employed at the site.
The plant’s location in the Bangkok metropolitan area offers strategic advantages, including proximity to key customers and excellent connectivity. Meanwhile, the original Prachinburi site will focus exclusively on extrusion blow moulding (EBM) in the future.
In 2022, ALPLA consolidated its Southeast Asia and China operations into the new APAC region.
That same year, the company entered the recycling industry, partnering with PTT Global Chemical to establish the state-of-the-art ENVICCO recycling plant in Rayong province.
This facility annually produces 30,000 tonnes of food-grade recycled PET (rPET) and 15,000 tonnes of recycled HDPE (rHDPE), supporting ALPLA’s commitment to sustainable packaging solutions.
“With two high-performance production plants and our recycling facility in Thailand, we are growing alongside our customers, ensuring a steady supply of sustainable packaging and strengthening the country’s circular economy,” said Daniel Qiu, ALPLA General Manager, Thailand.
Additionally, STUDIOa and the technical center provide added value by collaborating with customers during the design phase to create lightweight, recyclable packaging solutions.
