Amazon India showcases sustainable packaging drive with playful brand film

The initiative reduces reliance on secondary packaging by shipping select products directly in their original packaging.

INDIA – Amazon India has launched a lighthearted new campaign that spotlights its sustainability-first approach to packaging.

Developed in partnership with creative agency FCB Kinnect, the campaign playfully features Amazon’s familiar cardboard box enjoying a “holiday” as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce waste.

At the center of the message is Amazon India’s Shop in Product Packaging (SIPP) initiative, which eliminates the need for additional Amazon-branded boxes by shipping certain products in their original packaging.

According to the company, nearly half of all orders across India now use reduced or no secondary packaging, a milestone that has reached over 300 cities nationwide.

Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India and Australia said the initiative reflects the company’s long-term commitment to sustainability.

“Nearly half of all customer orders from Amazon India now ship with reduced or no added delivery packaging, significantly reducing waste for our customers,” Singh said.

“Our latest social media campaign highlights our packaging reduction efforts as we continue to make it easier for customers across India to make more sustainable choices every day.”

The campaign, rolled out on social media through four short films, leans on humor and everyday scenarios to communicate its message.

Each spot portrays the “retired” cardboard box enjoying moments of leisure, a symbolic nod to how Amazon’s reduced packaging strategy is easing the workload of traditional shipping boxes.

Henna Pande, EVP North at FCB Kinnect, explained the creative approach, “When Amazon challenged us to craft an idea celebrating their sustainability efforts, we knew there was an opportunity to create something distinctive.

“Framing the campaign around the concept of a ‘holiday’ for the box made the idea instantly relatable and compelling.”

She added that the storytelling not only drives home Amazon’s environmental goals but also leaves viewers with a smile.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team at FCB Kinnect for bringing such imagination to the table, and grateful to the Amazon India team for trusting us to bring bold, unconventional ideas to life.”

Nishant Pratap, Group Executive Creative Director – South, FCB Kinnect, emphasized the balance between fun and impact, “Through humour and insightful storytelling, our films cleverly showcase how Amazon’s sustainability efforts are quietly but profoundly transforming the ecosystem, one box at a time.”

The campaign reflects Amazon’s broader sustainability commitments, including reducing carbon emissions, cutting packaging waste, and designing supply chains that minimize environmental impact while enhancing customer convenience.
