This innovative pouch, made from recyclable materials, reduces the carbon footprint by 83% and decreases water and energy usage by 88% and 79% respectively when recycled.

This initiative is part of Avon’s ambitious sustainability commitment to ensure all its packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2030.

Amcor’s research and development team collaborated extensively with Avon to create the AmPrima Plus pouch, which retains the functionality and appeal of traditional packaging.

It features essential barrier properties, durability, and high-quality graphics while maintaining production efficiency with run speeds comparable to non-recyclable alternatives.

Roawin Luo, global director of Product Management at Amcor, stated, “Our AmPrima product range is designed to assist major brands like Avon in achieving their sustainability goals. We are proud to provide a recycle-ready solution that enhances such an iconic brand’s functionality and consumer appeal.”

Abby Deng, marketing head of Avon China, commented, “This collaboration represents a significant stride in our journey towards sustainability and innovation.

“By combining a refill format with recycle-ready film material, we’ve developed a new refill pack for our iconic Little Black Dress shower gels. This allows consumers to enjoy our high-quality products while supporting a more sustainable future.”

The 350ml refill pouch for Avon’s Little Black Dress shower gel is now available in China, and both companies are looking to expand their partnership.

They plan to introduce a similar refill pouch for the Shimmer Shower Gel later in 2024, along with further sustainable packaging innovations.

This development is part of Amcor’s ongoing sustainability initiatives. Earlier this month, the company significantly advanced its premium tin capsules and sparkling foils range by incorporating more than 90% recycled tin.

This step underscores Amcor’s commitment to innovation within the wine and spirits market, establishing new benchmarks with unprecedented levels of recycled content sourced from Europe.

Amcor Capsules has implemented innovative sourcing strategies, obtaining recycled tin from end-of-life products such as car radiators, batteries, ship propellers, and bronze scraps from ornaments or statues.

Following the recycling process, the tin material is repurposed for capsules and capping purposes, seamlessly integrating into the production process without affecting lead times or the final product’s quality.

This initiative reflects Amcor’s dedication to sustainable practices and its drive to transform recycled materials into premium packaging solutions for its beverage industry customers.
