SWITZERLAND – Amcor, a leading provider of packaging solutions, has introduced two new components to its Amcor Lift-Off initiative: Amcor Lift-Off Sprints and Amcor Lift-Off Connect.

These programs are designed to strengthen the company’s engagement with start-ups and emerging technologies in the packaging sector.

Amcor Lift-Off Sprints focuses on fostering technical collaborations to address specific research and development challenges. Successful start-ups that apply will enter into joint development agreements with Amcor’s R&D team and may receive funding of up to US$500,000.

The first session of  Amcor Lift-Off Sprints is scheduled for early 2025, with more details to be announced next year. Amcor plans to hold two sessions annually, aiming to drive innovation in packaging technology.

Frank Lehmann, Vice President of Amcor Corporate Venturing and Open Innovation, expressed excitement about expanding the Amcor Lift-Off initiative, “We are thrilled to further energize the packaging industry by elevating cutting-edge technologies.

“This is a crucial opportunity to collaborate with our customers to provide them with the most innovative solutions to meet today’s packaging challenges.”

Meanwhile, Amcor Lift-Off Connect focuses on forming strategic partnerships and pilot projects with start-ups addressing broader industry challenges beyond R&D.

The first session, set for December 4, will explore the application of artificial intelligence in manufacturing and R&D. Amcor plans to host two Lift-Off Connect sessions each year, with additional information to follow.

Through these initiatives, Amcor reaffirms its commitment to open innovation, investing up to US$3 million annually in partnerships, which includes direct investments and in-kind R&D support.

The goal is to foster collaborative relationships between Amcor, start-ups, and its customers, potentially leading to three-way collaboration agreements.
