Amcor unveils Magic One airless dispenser with 96% recyclability rate for beauty, personal care

GERMANY – Amcor has unveiled the Magic One airless dispenser, a polyolefin-based system offering adjustable output from 0.3ml to 1ml and achieving a 96 percent restitution rate that meets EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation criteria for recyclability.

The single-engine mechanism allows manufacturers to adjust the dispenser for various product needs while streamlining validation testing across product lines.

Designed for the beauty and personal care sector, the dispenser is made entirely of polyolefin to facilitate recycling where facilities exist, and its lightweight construction represents a significant reduction from previous Amcor models.

Lara Alemany, product line director for Amcor’s global rigids packaging solutions, explained that airless packaging is a major growth sector within the beauty and personal care market, thanks to its excellent product protection and preservation capabilities.

Engineering for Circularity

The Magic One’s 96 percent restitution rate is a standout technical achievement, meeting the PPWR’s stringent recyclability criteria.

The dispenser can incorporate recycled content from Amcor’s CleanStream process, which recovers polyethylene from household waste streams.

This closed-loop capability allows beauty brands to incorporate post-consumer recycled material into their packaging without compromising the precision dispensing performance required for premium formulations.

The single-engine design represents a departure from traditional airless systems, which typically require multiple pump mechanisms to accommodate different dosage volumes.

By using one engine across outputs ranging from 0.3ml to 1ml, Amcor enables manufacturers to standardize validation testing while offering product-specific dosing. This reduces complexity in both supply chain management and regulatory compliance.

For end consumers, the Magic One aims to preserve product quality while enabling accurate dosage from any orientation, a critical feature for formulations that thicken or separate over time.

The lockable pump prevents accidental discharge during transport, while design options allow brands to customize appearance without compromising functionality.

Consumer testing cited by Amcor reportedly returned positive feedback on both usability and aesthetics.
