Ardagh, Fitz’s debut 275ml glass bottle for tonic water as craft soda maker expands mixer line

The clear (flint) glass allows consumers to see the product inside, reinforcing the brand’s transparency and authenticity.

USA – Ardagh Glass Packaging-North America has introduced a 275ml flint glass bottle developed with Fitz’s Bottling Company for its Tonic Water, Tonic Water Zero, and Club Soda, with the bottles made in the US and available directly from Ardagh, designed for repeated recycling without loss of purity or quality.

The bottles will be available in the US as of next month. Based in St Louis, Fitz’s Bottling Company is a craft soda maker best known for its root beer, with a portfolio of more than 21 flavours produced on a vintage bottling line.

Why Glass for Craft Mixers

Glass packaging offers several advantages for craft beverage producers. Unlike plastic or aluminum, glass is chemically inert, meaning it does not react with or leach into the product, preserving taste and carbonation.

Glass is also infinitely recyclable; a glass bottle can be recycled repeatedly without degradation in quality, and recycling one tonne of glass saves approximately 1.2 tonnes of virgin raw materials and reduces energy consumption by up to 20 percent.

For a brand like Fitz’s, which emphasizes quality and craftsmanship, glass packaging communicates premium positioning that plastic or aluminum cannot match. The clear (flint) glass allows consumers to see the product inside, reinforcing the brand’s transparency and authenticity.

A Seamless Partnership

Michael Alter, founder and president of Fitz’s Bottling Company, explained that partnering with Ardagh Glass Packaging from concept to completion on the beverage mixer launch was a seamless experience and critical to bringing the vision to life.

He noted that glass packaging was central to the strategy, allowing the company to showcase the quality, craftsmanship, and character of its mixers, and Ardagh immediately understood that vision.

Their collaborative approach helped create a unique bottle that truly showcases the products and perfectly represents the brand.

Ardagh’s American-Made Commitment

Ardagh has produced glass bottles in the US for more than 125 years, offering bottles in different colours, sizes, styles, and finishes. Rashmi Markan, AGP-North America’s chief commercial officer, explained that Ardagh remains focused on expanding its portfolio of American-made glass bottles to give craft beverage producers greater flexibility in how they package their products.

She noted that Ardagh was pleased to work with Fitz’s, one of the most recognised craft soda brands in the US, to develop this 275ml bottle that offers versatility to package multiple products and a design that strengthens shelf appeal.

When Glass Tells a Story

A 275ml bottle is a small canvas.

But for Fitz’s, it carries tonic water, club soda, and the weight of a 125-year glassmaking legacy. Ardagh did not just supply a container, it helped a craft brand translate its identity into glass.
