Over 100 printers gather at SPAI meet in Vasai as printed electronics takes center stage for packaging

Professionals from leading players including Vihaa Prints, Mudrika Labels, Akar, PGPL, and Neo Concept came together for an evening of networking, knowledge sharing, and meaningful discussions.

INDIA – The Screen Printers’ Association of India has hosted a meet and greet industry networking evening at Hotel Golden Chariot in Vasai, drawing over 100 printers from across offset, packaging, label, and industrial segments, with a keynote presentation on applying printed electronics to illuminate packaging.

The event recorded an impressive turnout, reflecting strong engagement within the industry. Professionals from leading players including Vihaa Prints, Mudrika Labels, Akar, PGPL, and Neo Concept came together for an evening of networking, knowledge sharing, and meaningful discussions.

Printed Electronics: The Future of Packaging

One of the key highlights was an insightful presentation by Rajesh Kulkarni of Keetronics on applying printed electronics in packaging to illuminate it.

His session was highly appreciated by the audience and sparked engaging discussions on the future of printed electronics and its innovative applications in packaging.

Printed electronics allows packaging to incorporate lights, sounds, or sensors using conductive inks printed directly onto substrates.

For brand owners, this creates opportunities for interactive packaging that engages consumers at the point of sale. For printers, it represents a high-value, high-margin service beyond conventional print.

SPAI’s Ongoing Commitment to Training

Jignesh Lapasiya, secretary of SPAI, shared key highlights about Print Ki Pathshala, the training institute by SPAI. He also spoke about the SPAI Foundation, which aims to support the institute with the latest technology and assist printers in accessing equipment and printing materials.

Additionally, he introduced the FESPA Sensations Book, showcasing special effect printing techniques that inspired great interest among attendees.

The event was supported by sponsor Dayakar Reddy of SAI Enterprises.

The president of SPAI emphasized the association’s continued commitment to innovation, skill development, and industry collaboration, encouraging members to actively participate in such initiatives.

Why Networking Matters for Printers

The Indian printing industry is fragmented, with thousands of small and medium-sized printers serving local markets. Events like SPAI’s meet and greet provide a rare opportunity for competitors to become collaborators, sharing knowledge about new technologies, market trends, and business challenges.

The strong attendance, over 100 printers, demonstrates that the industry values face-to-face connection in an increasingly digital world.

When Printing Gets Smarter

Printed electronics is not science fiction. Conductive inks already exist. LED components are smaller than a grain of rice.

The challenge is integrating them into high-speed packaging lines without slowing production.

Rajesh Kulkarni’s presentation at SPAI suggested that the technology is closer to commercial reality than many printers realize, and those who master it first will claim the highest margins.
