FRANCE – US-based materials science company Avery Dennison has introduced a cutting-edge label coater at its Champ-sur-Drac facility in France.
This milestone coincides with the company’s 50th anniversary of label production at the site and highlights its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.
The newly installed coater is part of Avery Dennison’s broader initiative to enhance its European network.
The machine offers improved flexibility and efficiency with state-of-the-art coating technology, allowing for more sustainable production processes.
It will bolster the company’s ability to deliver high-quality labels and packaging materials, meeting the evolving needs of industries such as e-commerce, food, logistics, and wine and spirits.
The Champ-sur-Drac upgrade is not limited to the label coater. Avery Dennison has expanded its infrastructure with five new logistics buildings, covering over 8,700 square meters, additional loading docks, an automated warehouse, and improved parking facilities for heavy goods vehicles and staff.
Tim Presto, Avery Dennison’s Vice President of Supply Chain and Operations for the Europe, Middle East, and North Africa region, emphasized the importance of continuous improvement in the company’s operations.
“The new label coater at Champ-sur-Drac strengthens our ability to support the sustainable development of label solutions, particularly in high-demand sectors like e-commerce and food.”
Avery Dennison, headquartered in Mentor, Ohio, is a global leader in labeling and functional materials, radio frequency identification (RFID) inlays, and tags.
Its products serve various industries, including home and personal care, general retail, apparel, e-commerce, and pharmaceuticals.
In addition to the new coater, Avery Dennison recently launched its first range of INGEDE12-certified paper label materials, designed to promote recycling and contribute to a more circular economy.
These new labels feature innovative adhesive technology that separates cleanly from pulp during recycling, producing higher-quality materials for new cardboard and paper products.
The range includes rVellum, Coated Paper, thermal eco, and Thermal Top face stock options, suitable for both decorative and variable information labeling.
The standout product, rVellum, is made from 100% recycled materials, helping to reduce CO2 emissions and supporting Avery Dennison’s sustainability goals.
Aligned with the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Avery Dennison’s label materials have passed recyclability tests under the INGEDE12 protocol.
These certifications underscore the company’s dedication to developing environmentally friendly products that meet the rigorous standards of the European Paper Recycling Council.
This expansion and focus on sustainable innovation signal Avery Dennison’s ongoing efforts to provide cutting-edge solutions while adhering to environmental guidelines and promoting a circular economy.
