Barra Mansa Alimentos adopts Amcor’s Moda Vac packaging system at Brazilian deboning facility

The three Moda Vac units replaced up to nine belt chamber machines, significantly reducing equipment count and maintenance complexity.

BRAZIL – Barra Mansa Alimentos has installed Amcor’s Moda Vac rotary vacuum chamber sealing system at its Brazilian processing facility, with three units replacing up to nine belt chamber machines to improve productivity and vacuum performance for the meat processor’s Oranges Alimentos brand.

The Brazilian meat processor sought a combined system for a new deboning line to raise output, improve vacuum packaging and simplify plant operations.

Amcor supplied the Moda Vac high-speed equipment along with packaging materials and local technical support for the installation.

The move forms part of Amcor’s broader push in Latin America, where the company has been investing in packaging technology, production capacity, equipment, and technical and sales support.

How Three Moda Vac Units Consolidate Operations and Reduce Machine Footprint

The three Moda Vac units replaced up to nine belt chamber machines, significantly reducing equipment count and maintenance complexity.

The new lines have already raised capacity and improved consistency in operations, vacuum results and process stability.

When all three lines are completed in 2026, Barra Mansa is expected to run one of the region’s most advanced rotary vacuum sealing set-ups.

This installation reflects a broader industry trend where integrated equipment and materials-based solutions increasingly replace standalone packaging machinery in high-throughput protein processing environments.

Why Brazil’s Protein Sector Demands Advanced Packaging Technology

Barra Mansa Alimentos operations director Felipe Oranges said that the implementation of Moda Vac technology had significantly improved the company’s productivity and vacuum performance, with the system’s stability, versatility and ease of integration into the production flow being decisive factors in the decision.

Amcor Brazil vice-president and general manager Marcelo Queiroz stated that the project demonstrates how Amcor’s integrated approach combining materials, equipment and technical expertise helps customers improve productivity, consistency and long-term competitiveness.

He added that Brazil is a strategic growth market for Amcor, and initiatives like this reflect the progress being made to expand capabilities, invest in innovation and work more closely with customers to support their long-term growth.

The consolidation of equipment through Amcor’s integrated Moda system represents a strategic shift to create customer stickiness in packaging operations.
