The kit includes the lens, sachets and instructions, requiring packaging that could withstand multiple distribution routes while maintaining a reassuring first impression for users potentially anxious about skin health concerns.

UK – Burgopak has developed packaging for Map My Mole’s Image Capture Kit, a home-use clinical dermoscope that attaches to a smartphone, with the design protecting the delicate lens during transit and storage while organizing contents for pharmacy, clinic and direct-to-consumer distribution channels.
The packaging solution, announced on 23 June 2026, balances healthcare functionality with a premium user experience for the at-home skin monitoring service.
Map My Mole enables users to capture medical-quality images of moles for review by consultant dermatologists, with the bespoke Dyplens dermoscope certified as a Class 1 medical device.
The kit includes the lens, sachets and instructions, requiring packaging that could withstand multiple distribution routes while maintaining a reassuring first impression for users potentially anxious about skin health concerns.
How Burgopak’s Wellness Team Balanced Protection, Organization and Fulfillment Efficiency
Map My Mole sought packaging that would organize the kit’s contents clearly while keeping the lens protected in transit and storage.
Burgopak’s Wellness team, which specializes in healthcare products and medical devices including home test kits, orthodontic products and supplements, addressed the operational challenge of efficient fulfillment alongside the user experience requirement.
Burgopak senior healthcare project manager Willemijn Zandt explained that it was important for the packaging to communicate trust and efficacy, leaving a reassuringly positive first impression, with the team mindful that this is a medical device that arrives at what could be quite an anxious moment for the user.
The design also had to be quick and efficient to fulfill across pharmacy, clinic and direct-to-consumer channels.
Why Healthcare Packaging Innovation Matters for Home Diagnostics
The rapid expansion of home healthcare, telemedicine and self-diagnostic solutions is driving significant innovation across the healthcare packaging industry.
Patient-led teledermoscopy using smartphone-based devices has demonstrated substantial benefits: a 12-month pilot study across three general practices found that the average time from image submission to dermatologist report was 47 hours compared with the typical 4 to 14 days, reducing GP consultation time from 20 minutes to 3 minutes per patient.
Map My Mole operations director Tottie Dalton said that the Burgopak design team marry the functional effectiveness from healthcare with the elevated user experience and brand building typical of consumer products, which is what drew the company to them as a design partner.
She added that the company is thrilled with how the packaging looks, and the kits are already helping thousands of people with concerns about new or changing moles.
