SWEDEN – Chadwicks, a leading producer of pre-cut lidding solutions, is set to unveil its innovative range of sustainable lidding products at this year’s Scanpack trade show in Sweden.
One of the key highlights is the introduction of rPET pre-cut lidding film, which incorporates up to 50% post-consumer resin (PCR), aligning with European sustainability regulations while reducing reliance on virgin plastics.
The new rPET pre-cut lids represent a major step in minimizing carbon emissions using recycled materials.
As sustainability becomes increasingly crucial in packaging, Chadwicks’ rPET lidding helps brands meet regulatory demands while lowering their environmental footprint.
Fully certified for food contact, these rPET lids are suitable for various products, including butter, spreads, dips, yogurts, beverages, and convenience foods.
Despite the shift to recycled content, the rPET lids maintain the same high-performance properties as traditional PET lidding, ensuring product safety and quality.
“We are committed to reducing our reliance on virgin plastics and integrating more sustainable practices into our business,” said Paul Whelan, Chief Technical Officer at Chadwicks.
“The introduction of rPET lidding with 50% PCR for the Scandinavian market is a significant milestone. It offers the same technical advantages as virgin plastic but with a reduced carbon footprint and a substantial increase in recycled material use, which is essential for future-forward packaging solutions.”
In addition to its rPET lidding, Chadwicks will also debut a new resealable pre-cut lid designed to eliminate the need for plastic over-caps.
This innovation enhances product freshness while reducing overall plastic usage, contributing to the growing demand for environmentally friendly packaging.
The company will further showcase its versatile aluminium pre-cut lidding solutions. Known for their excellent sealing properties across various container types—PP, PET, Paper PE, and glass—aluminium lids offer superior protection against light, moisture, and oxygen, extending product shelf life.
Moreover, aluminium lids are fully recyclable and compatible with high-speed production lines and heat-sealing processes, making them suitable for hot-fill applications and products requiring pasteurization or sterilization.
Chadwicks invites attendees to visit their stand at Scanpack from October 22 to 25, 2024, at Stand FOO:02, where they can explore these cutting-edge solutions firsthand.
As a global leader in pre-cut lidding solutions for food, dairy, beverages, personal care, and household products, Chadwicks offers over 300 cutting tools that can produce lids in almost any size or shape. This reinforces their commitment to versatility and innovation in packaging solutions.
