AUSTRIA – Coveris has unveiled its latest sustainable stretch films, namely Unterland R and Unterland Crystal, intended for silage bale wrapping.
The launch of these new stretch films will occur at Agritechnica 2023, an agricultural machinery trade show set to take place from November 12th to 18th in Hannover, Germany.
Both films have been specifically crafted to deliver heightened sustainability benefits and are produced utilizing exclusively renewable resources at Coveris’ Kufstein facility in Austria.
Unterland R, a multilayered stretch film, is composed of at least 30% recyclate primarily sourced from agricultural films collected through the ERDE initiative, a take-back and recycling system for harvested plastics in Germany.
The use of this recycled content is estimated to save up to 20 liters of crude oil per film roll, a significant environmental conservation measure as it equates to reducing overall carbon footprint by 23% for farmers.
Coveris underscores that the new stretch films address the growing demand for ecologically friendly baling solutions within the agricultural market.
In contrast, Unterland Crystal, a transparent recyclable silage film, guarantees the same high-quality standards as colored films. It promises substantial savings in the recycling process for customers who adopt it.
Martin Wildinger, the Sales Director of Coveris Agricultural Films, expressed, “At Coveris, we’ve built our entire sustainability strategy around the concept of No Waste, believing that combating waste in all forms is the catalyst for a more sustainable future.
“Our Unterland stretch films strongly align with this strategy, delivering the agricultural sector a sustainable, efficient, and protective film for silage bale wrapping.”
This unveiling follows Coveris’ recent announcement of a new recyclable, flexible thermoforming film solution, Formpeel P, designed for various medical packaging applications.
The company plans to introduce this film at COMPAMED 2023, an international trade fair taking place from November 13th to 16th in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Formpeel P, a co-extruded film, offers high-grade protection for medical products and demonstrates exceptional puncture resistance.
Tailored for thermoforming, it is adaptable to different medical packaging needs, based on whether a peelable polyethylene or polyolefin base is required.
Once launched, Formpeel P will be added to Coveris’ existing portfolio of sustainable materials, which includes Formpeel T, Flexopeel T, and Cleerpeel solutions.
The new solution has been designed to provide the same functionality and safety as the company’s existing packaging materials.
