MALAYSIA – The Phoenix Press, a leading manufacturer in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region has made a strategic investment in Bobst’s Novacut 106 ER die-cutter to enhance its capacity, improve productivity, and expedite delivery processes.

The newly acquired machine is designed to handle various materials, including paper, cartons, solid boards, and light corrugated boards, with a maximum size of 1,060mm x 760mm.

Operating at a speed of up to 7,000 sheets per hour, the Novacut 106 ER is poised to elevate Phoenix’s production capabilities and streamline workflows.

In addition to its swift processing capabilities, the Novacut 106 ER features automated setup and changeover functionalities, effectively minimizing bottlenecks and optimizing overall efficiency.

The advanced die-cutting technology incorporated in the machine not only enhances precision but also contributes to reduced material consumption and energy efficiency.

This strategic investment aligns with Phoenix’s objective to cater to a broader spectrum of customer requirements and meet the growing demand in the market.

Phoenix’s Production Manager, YL Ooi, expressed satisfaction with the Novacut’s seamless integration into their operations, stating, “The Novacut aligns with our requirements perfectly, and its integration into our factory floor has already increased productivity and efficiency.

“Moreover, the machine boasts a very user-friendly interface, featuring an intuitive HMI and straightforward, systematic instructions catering to all skill levels and making it very popular with our operators.

“Our customers have noticed a significant improvement in turnaround times. They appreciate our ability to fulfill their orders promptly, which will no doubt lead to increased loyalty and more repeat business.”

This strategic investment reinforces a longstanding partnership of over 20 years between Phoenix and Bobst.

The Novacut 106 ER Autoplaten flatbed die-cutter will complement Phoenix’s existing equipment, including two older die-cutters and two folder-gluers, all provided by Bobst. Phoenix Press operates from a modern 16,000m² printing plant in Prai, specializing in the production of a diverse range of carton packaging products.

It’s worth noting that Phoenix Press is not the only Malaysian company to invest in Bobst’s die-cutting technology.

In 2021, Tung Lim Press, a prominent packaging and printing company in Malaysia, experienced growth in production after acquiring the Bobst Novacut 106 E.

Managing Director Jeffery Wong emphasized the company’s commitment to staying competitive by continuously upgrading facilities with top-quality machinery, relying on Bobst for their die-cutting needs.
