GERMANY – Syntegon has announced its participation in this year’s FACHPACK, set to take place in Nuremberg, Germany, from September 24th to 26th.
The company will showcase its machine and software solutions designed to help food manufacturers transition to sustainable packaging processes.
At booth 1-257 in Hall 1, Syntegon will present its ‘future-proof’ packaging material solutions, including the VFFS SVX Agile, which produces pouches made from mono-material; the Kliklok ACE carton erector, which forms glueless carton trays for cookies; and a horizontal packaging line that wraps bars in paper.
“With the European Union’s Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) taking effect in 2030, sustainable packaging will no longer be just an image decision but a legal requirement,” says Torsten Sauer, Director of Sustainability at Syntegon.
“That’s why we support manufacturers with our innovative technologies and integrated packaging systems, helping them prepare for these new market conditions and ensuring a seamless transition to sustainable, PPWR-compliant packaging.”
The SVX Agile vertical packaging machine is reported to achieve ‘the highest output rates in the industry,’ even with sustainable packaging materials like mono-material or paper.
Syntegon claims the SVX Agile can produce up to 300 pouches per minute, depending on pouch size and film specifications.
At the trade fair, the SVX Agile will demonstrate its ability to create pouches from 100% recyclable mono-material, allowing manufacturers to save resources during production without compromising performance.
Also on display will be a bar packaging line featuring the Pack 403 horizontal flow-wrapper and an infeed module equipped with Syntegon’s paper-ON-form forming shoulder.
This forming shoulder, available for new machines and as a retrofit kit for existing Pack 403 flow-wrappers, enables brand owners to switch from plastic film to paper without sacrificing performance. It can process paper from various manufacturers, adding to its versatility.
Another key highlight is the Kliklok ACE carton erector, designed to help brand owners conserve resources.
Using the lock-style method, this compact machine can form up to 100 carton trays for cookies per minute, producing completely glue-free cartons.
This method not only minimizes energy, maintenance, and material costs but also improves the recyclability of packaging.
Syntegon will also showcase its cloud-based software solution, Synexio, available with Service Agreements.
This tool helps manufacturers optimize their systems’ process parameters. Syntegon’s Uptime package includes a ‘sustainability monitoring’ feature that provides data on power consumption and waste production, assisting manufacturers in reducing their ecological footprint.
The company is also developing a new paper-on-form retrofit kit for paper multipacks and will present samples of this new format to visitors at the event.
Other companies presenting at FACHPACK include Henkel, which will showcase its ‘anti-slip’ palletizing and end-of-life adhesives.
Henkel’s hotmelt adhesives from the Technomelt Supra PS range are designed to ensure safe transportation, enable higher stacking depending on the content, and reduce the use of stretch film by up to 90%.
