UK – Notpla, a pioneering packaging startup, is teaming up with sports and entertainment venues across the UK and Ireland to revolutionize foodservice packaging with its innovative seaweed-based, biodegradable solutions.

In a strategic partnership with Levy UK & Ireland, the venue arm of Compass Group UK & Ireland, Notpla plans to introduce 75 million units of its eco-friendly packaging over the next three years.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the fight against plastic pollution, with over 50 additional venues set to join the initiative in the coming months, following the lead of prestigious locations like The Kia Oval, Aston Villa Football Club, Twickenham Stadium, and Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

Recently, Prince William visited The Kia Oval to witness Notpla’s sustainable packaging in action, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in tackling environmental challenges.

Notpla’s seaweed-based packaging serves as a viable alternative to traditional plastics, addressing the alarming levels of plastic waste that end up in landfills and oceans.

With only a small fraction of plastic being recycled or incinerated, the majority poses a significant threat to the environment.

Notpla’s partnership with Levy enables the rapid scaling of their solution, accelerating the reduction of plastic pollution on a substantial scale.

Pierre Paslier, co-founder and co-CEO of Notpla, commends Levy’s commitment to environmental stewardship, emphasizing their proactive approach to reducing plastic waste.

He highlights the significance of taking action to curb the production of single-use plastics and praises Levy for their dedication to this cause.

Levy UK & Ireland has been at the forefront of sustainable practices within the foodservice industry, implementing measures such as carbon labeling on menus and prioritizing locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

By partnering with Notpla, Levy venues can further enhance their sustainability efforts, with Notpla’s packaging demonstrating a remarkable 70% reduction in potential CO2 emissions compared to conventional alternatives.

Jon Davies, managing director of Levy UK & Ireland, reaffirms their commitment to environmental responsibility, stressing the importance of collaborative partnerships in driving positive change.

He sees the exclusive partnership with Notpla as a significant step towards a future free from plastic waste, offering hope for a healthier planet for future generations.

With no compromise on functionality or convenience, Notpla’s packaging enables both visitors and catering staff to embrace sustainable practices without sacrificing convenience.
