USA – Greif, a leader in industrial packaging, has introduced EnviroRAP™, an innovative 100% recycled paperboard tailored for the food industry.
Designed to offer strong resistance to oil and grease, EnviroRAP is suitable for packaging a range of foods, including both aqueous and fatty products.
Its water-based coating is fully recyclable and repulpable, aligning with sustainable practices by enabling easy recycling and minimizing environmental impact.
The coating application process is streamlined directly inline, which removes the need for a separate coating stage.
This reduces costs and eliminates additional material transport, lowering carbon emissions. EnviroRAP’s versatility is enhanced by its caliper range of 0.012 to 0.030 inches, allowing it to meet diverse packaging needs in the food sector.
“We’re thrilled to launch EnviroRAP as a major step forward in paper packaging,” says Vince Fields, Product Development Manager at Greif.
“This solution offers our food industry customers a sustainable alternative to plastic packaging, which supports their environmental goals while meeting growing consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging.
“EnviroRAP provides a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional poly-coated paperboard, which can be more difficult to recycle due to its plastic coating.”
Developed by Greif’s Innovation Team through customer collaboration, EnviroRAP reflects its commitment to delivering eco-friendly packaging that benefits both the planet and its clients.
Showcasing IBC solutions and the anniversary of Turkish facility
In addition to EnviroRAP, Greif recently showcased its Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) solutions at the Eurasia Packaging exhibition, coinciding with the first anniversary of its Dilovasi IBC plant in Turkey.
The facility offers diverse, innovative IBC products tailored to industry needs. Among them are the GCUBE Shield, featuring barrier technology that effectively mitigates product permeation, and the GCUBE Elektron, specially engineered to safely transport highly flammable liquids.
Greif’s GCUBE IBC for Food is also a standout. It provides a food-grade container that upholds strict hygiene and safety standards to prevent contamination in food packaging.
“Our focus this past year has been on increasing the visibility of our GCUBE IBC brand in Turkey,” explains Tugrul Karalar, Sales Director for Turkey at Greif.
“Through strategic marketing, partnerships, and consistent quality, we’re excited to showcase our IBC expertise to a larger audience in Eurasia.”
Expanding its portfolio, Greif also displayed a range of large, intermediate, and specialty steel drums engineered for securing storage and transporting liquids like oil, gas, and chemicals and dry goods such as grains and other food products.
With innovations like EnviroRAP and an expanding portfolio of bulk packaging solutions, Greif continues to lead in sustainable and efficient packaging for a range of industries.
