Lindner Washtech to supply two washing lines to Srichakra Polyplast India

INDIA – Lindner Washtech has agreed to supply two washing lines to Srichakra Polyplast in India for processing post-consumer recycled film and rigid plastic waste into premium recyclates for demanding packaging applications.

The systems address distinct technical challenges presented by film and rigid plastics. 

Film waste typically arrives as lightweight, contaminated flexible packaging, while rigid streams contain labels, closures and residual contents. Effective washing and preparation are critical to producing cleaner flakes and more consistent feedstock. 

The investment arrives as India pushes higher recycled content targets across its packaging sector.

Indian Recycled Content Mandates Driving Investment

The country has mandated 40 percent recycled content in food-grade PET packaging for the 2026 to 2027 period, rising to 60 percent by 2028 to 2029. 

However, the Alliance for Plastic Recycling Bharat has warned that approximately 25 percent of India’s rPET capacity remains idle because brands and packaging users have not yet adopted recycled material at the required levels. 

Against that backdrop, the Srichakra project highlights the need not only for more recycling capacity, but for systems capable of producing consistent, high-quality recyclates suitable for regulated and brand-sensitive applications. 

A typical Indian recycling facility currently spends approximately ₹2,50,000 (US$3,000) per metric ton on imported washing line components, while Lindner’s locally supported solution aims to reduce both capital expenditure and ongoing maintenance costs.

Srichakra’s Existing Recycling Infrastructure

Srichakra Polyplast operates India’s first food-grade rPET recycling facility and ranks as one of the region’s largest producers of food-grade rPET and rHDPE. 

The company recycles over 100,000 tonnes of plastic waste yearly, supplying recyclate to beverage, fast-moving consumer goods and consumer brands seeking to reduce virgin resin use. 

Ravindra Venkata Paruchuri, co-founder and managing director of Srichakra Polyplast, said that choosing the right technology partner was critical for a project of this scale. 

He explained that Srichakra had selected Lindner Washtech after a technical and commercial evaluation because of its technology, process expertise and ability to deliver premium-quality recyclates.

Lindner’s Expanding India Footprint

Lindner stated that its Indian team would support the project through execution, technical assistance and after-sales service. 

The order builds on Lindner’s wider expansion in India, including its 2024 launch of Lindner Recyclingtech Bharat and its cooperation with Erema through Blueone Solutions and Erema India. 

Through that partnership, Lindner and Erema are positioning themselves to offer integrated systems covering sorting, shredding, washing and extrusion. 

Marcel Willberg and Georg Krenn, Managing Directors at Lindner Washtech, along with Ganesh Karankal, Director for India, were present at the agreement signing alongside Srichakra’s leadership team.
