CANADA – Differentiated specialty packaging company Max Solutions has completed the acquisition of Canadian folding carton company Ellis Group for an undisclosed sum.
Founded more than 40 years ago, the Ellis Group is a family-owned and operated company that designs, manufactures and distributes custom paperboard carton solutions.
The company operates three facilities in Ontario, Canada, which serve major brands in North America.
“We are very excited about this acquisition,” said Marc Shore, Max Solutions CEO. “The Ellis Group will provide state-of-the-art technology for our customers and augment our offerings geographically.
“This partnership is complementary on many levels in that it supports and strengthens our common end markets, customers and cultures.
“We look forward to leveraging the best of both organizations, which will create opportunities for our employees and enhance our future growth and success.”
Reflecting on the acquisition, Ellis Group CEO Bill Ellis said: “We knew how important it was to find a partner that shared our commitment to excellence, service, and to our valued employees.
“I am extremely proud of the company we built and have great appreciation for everyone who has contributed to its success. Max Solutions has the expertise and experience to take the Ellis Group to the next level.”
On his part, Dennis Kaltman, President of Max Solutions said: “Both Marc and I have operated in Canada for many years with Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS) and before that, Shorewood Packaging, dating back to 1984.
“We’re thrilled to be back. The Ellis family has made significant investments in technology and capabilities over the years.
“They’ve built a talented team with valuable skill sets and we look forward to working closely with them to continue their legacy of innovation and exceptional customer service.”
Launched last November, Max Solutions provides specialty packaging solutions for healthcare and consumer segments.
The acquisition of Ellis Group comes after the company opened its first facility in Bristol, Pennsylvania, in July this year.
The 100,000ft² facility features advanced technology and aims to address the growing market demands of Max Solutions’ key customers.
Max Solutions plans to open its second factory in Concord, North Carolina, next month, which will increase its manufacturing space to 250,000ft².
At the time of opening its first facility, Marc Shore said: “These new factories, along with our dynamic and exceptional team, position us to provide superior quality and exceptional service to our customers while remaining focused on driving long-term strategic growth.”
