UK – Medi-Clear, a UK-based specialist manufacturer of medication adherence packaging components, has invested in a Nilpeter FB-17 flexographic press as part of its strategy to support business growth, enhance innovation capacity and improve production efficiency across its healthcare packaging portfolio.
The investment reflects rising performance, quality and delivery expectations within the pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging sector, where consistency, repeatability and material flexibility are increasingly critical.
Medi-Clear said the new press will strengthen its ability to support both existing customers and new product development initiatives.
“As our offering continued to evolve and grow with new customers, products and applications, our existing equipment began to limit what we could do,” said Steve Watt, Operations and Technical Director at Medi-Clear.
“We needed to invest in new technology to bring additional capability and efficiency into the business. Our focus areas were throughput and material handling, and we wanted a solution that could genuinely address both.”
Following a detailed evaluation process, Medi-Clear selected Nilpeter after working closely with the manufacturer to refine the press configuration.
The specification was developed through an iterative process, allowing requirements to evolve as testing and ideation progressed.
“We carefully defined what the right press specifications should look like for us,” Watt said.
“What made Nilpeter stand out was the level of commitment to the process. The time, responsiveness and willingness to adapt to our changing requirements made this feel far more like a partnership than a traditional supplier relationship.”
The Nilpeter FB-17 is expected to provide Medi-Clear with greater flexibility across its existing product formats, while also creating a stronger platform for innovation and leaner production workflows.
The company said the press will enable improved efficiency, reduced complexity and enhanced control across a range of healthcare packaging materials.
“This investment gives us opportunities that we simply didn’t have before,” Watt added.
“It supports new product development and allows us to approach our current portfolio in a leaner, more efficient way.”
John Hammond of Nilpeter UK, who led the project, highlighted the importance of collaboration in delivering tailored solutions for highly regulated markets such as healthcare packaging
He noted that Medi-Clear’s requirements evolved throughout the project, requiring a transparent and detail-driven approach.
“The result is a bespoke FB-17 configuration built on trust and partnership, designed to support Medi-Clear’s next phase of efficiency and innovation,” Hammond said.
Looking ahead, Medi-Clear views the FB-17 investment as a key milestone in strengthening operational performance and long-term capability.
“Our priority now is to see how the press performs in our operation and the value it delivers,” Watt concluded.
“We are confident it will play a meaningful role in supporting our future growth and innovation goals.”
