SOUTH AFRICA – Mpact Corrugated Pinetown has been awarded a silver accolade at the prestigious Flexographic Technical Association of South Africa (FTASA) awards for its innovative packaging design for Phoenix Beer.
The recognition highlights the company’s exceptional use of black line and tone on a single plate, showcasing advanced flexographic printing techniques.

In addition to the silver award, Mpact also received special commendation for its work on Nestlé Cremora’s 4g sticks.
The judges praised the bold use of a dark blue solid color, which added a distinctive and impactful element to the packaging.

Other winners at the FTASA Awards
Among the standout performers were several gold winners who demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity in flexographic printing.
In the Labels Self-Adhesive (Line/Tone) category, MCC Label Paarl earned gold for its striking design on the Diemersdal Sauvignon Rosé 2024 label.
The same printer also triumphed in the Labels Self-Adhesive (Process) category with the vibrant and intricate Oxygin label.
In the Paper Bags and Sacks (Uncoated Process) segment, Taurus Packaging won gold for its work on the Bar Be Quick Instant Light Charcoal Two-Pack, which impressed judges with its consistent print quality and attention to detail.
Advanced Flexibles secured gold in the Flexible Packaging Narrow Web (Shrinkable) category for the Spar Signature Selection – Creamy Mayonnaise 375g packaging.
Meanwhile, ITB Plastics excelled in the Flexible Packaging Medium Web (Process) category with their design for Polana Pasta Elbows 3kg.
For Flexible Packaging Medium Web (Shrinkable), All4Labels South Africa claimed gold with the Glade Air Freshener 180ml packaging, recognized for its flawless execution.
MCC Label Durban won in the Flexible Packaging Wide Web (Line/Tone) category for its work on Danone Inkomazi Medium Cream Maas 1.8kg, while CTP Flexibles impressed in the Flexible Packaging Wide Web (Process) category with their Nescafé Classic 230g design.
In the Aluminium Foil Direct Print category, Aluminium Foil Converters, a division of Bidvest Paperplus, secured gold for the Lactalis Momo Morango / Fraise / Strawberry Dairy Snack. Their innovative materials and print techniques set a new standard in this category.
Finally, the Innovation Award saw a joint gold victory for MCC Label Paarl, MCC Oriental Lady packaging, and Peninsula Packaging for the Freshmark Baby Potatoes Crème Fraiche and Chives design.
Both entries were celebrated for their groundbreaking approaches to flexographic printing and packaging innovation.
