ProAmpac introduces innovative butter wraps for enhanced dairy packaging

The new offerings include Butter Fresh Parchment, a wax-free, PFAS-free solution engineered for compostability.

USA – ProAmpac, a global leader in flexible packaging solutions, has expanded its dairy packaging portfolio by launching innovative butter wrap solutions designed to improve product protection and sustainability.

The new offerings include Butter Fresh Parchment, a wax-free, PFAS-free solution engineered for compostability, and a foil-paper composite wrap suited for butter, margarine, and other fat-based solid products.

Both wraps are designed to deliver superior grease resistance and dead-fold performance, ensuring extended product freshness and cleaner handling.

ProAmpac highlighted that these wraps reduce air exposure and prevent grease seepage, keeping contents in optimal condition for longer.

The foil-paper composite version adds further benefits, offering UV protection and a strong grease barrier.

Enhanced with an embossing feature, it boosts processing efficiency and texture, while its robust bond resists delamination and curling, making it ideal for high-speed production environments.

“With Butter Fresh Parchment, we’re introducing a sustainable, high-performance wrap that meets today’s packaging demands,” said Jim Tierney, Vice President of Product Development at ProAmpac.

“Paired with our durable foil-paper wrap, we’re offering versatile solutions that support efficient processing and premium presentation.”

Beyond butter wraps, ProAmpac’s comprehensive dairy portfolio includes lidding films, cheese packaging, and spouted yoghurt pouches.

Its PRO-FLEX films are tailored for both natural chunk and shredded cheese applications, serving retail and institutional markets alike.

In a broader move to enhance protective packaging, ProAmpac recently expanded its ProActive Intelligence portfolio with the launch of moisture-adsorbing films under the Moisture Protect series.

Developed in partnership with Aptar CSP Technologies, these films integrate Aptar’s 3-Phase Activ-Polymer technology directly into the packaging structure, eliminating the need for traditional desiccant packets and simplifying packaging systems.

The Moisture Protect line includes both foil-based and foil-free options. While the MP-1000 series retains traditional foil barriers, the MP-2000 and MP-3000 series provide sustainable alternatives.

MP-2000 offers eco-friendly, foil-free protection, and MP-3000 features a recyclable mono-polyolefin structure, meeting growing regulatory and consumer sustainability demands.

“These innovations mark a major step forward in flexible packaging,” said Samuel Kessler, Senior Innovation Engineer for Active/Intelligent Packaging at ProAmpac.

“Our Moisture Protect series balances high-performance moisture protection with the need for more sustainable, streamlined solutions.”

These advances underscore ProAmpac’s commitment to driving performance, sustainability, and innovation across the dairy and flexible packaging sectors.
