Rebsons Labels enhances production with new Hontec FlexiCon460 press installation

South African converter adds advanced press equipped with both a multi-layer device and a rotary die-cutting unit.

SOUTH AFRICA – South African label converter Rebsons Labels has introduced an advanced 8-color flexographic printing press from Hontec, the FlexiCon460, to its operations.

The equipment includes a multi-layer device and a rotary die-cutting unit, which enable greater production flexibility and efficiency in creating label solutions.

In a statement, Rebsons Labels management highlighted the press’s role in meeting customer needs.

“This installation allows us to handle complex designs with precision while speeding up turnaround times,” said a company spokesperson.

The addition supports the firm’s focus on delivering high-quality labels for various industries, including food and beverages, where accurate printing on diverse substrates is essential.

The FlexiCon460 offers reliable performance in high-volume runs, helping Rebsons Labels expand its output without compromising on detail.

According to industry observers, such upgrades equip converters to process materials like recyclable films more effectively, aiding efforts to produce environmentally friendly packaging.

Hontec’s technology integrates seamlessly into existing workflows, minimizing downtime during setup.

A representative from Hontec noted that the company aims to support converters through reliable equipment.

The press has already shown its value in similar installations across the region, where it handles up to 460 meters per minute in printing speed.

A recent market analysis indicates the industry will reach US$437.78 billion in value this year, with projections to climb to US$644.43 billion by 2030 at an annual growth rate of 8.04%.

Flexographic methods continue to dominate due to their cost-effectiveness for large orders, particularly in flexible packaging and labels.

In Europe and Asia, recent partnerships have introduced hybrid flexo-digital systems, cutting waste by combining short-run customization with efficient bulk production.

Rebsons Labels plans to leverage the new press for innovative applications, such as barrier coatings on mono-materials to replace multi-layer options.

Hontec emphasized its dedication to providing presses that adapt to changing demands, ensuring converters like Rebsons remain competitive.
