The system enables a fast transition between paper and poly bags in approximately two minutes, boosting productivity.

USA – Sealed Air Corporation has rolled out the AUTOBAG 850HB Hybrid Bagging Machine, a versatile automated system designed to handle both traditional poly mailers and curbside-recyclable paper bags.
According to company details, the machine allows fulfillment teams to switch materials in about two minutes, maintaining operational speed amid rising order demands.
The system tackles key operational hurdles, such as processing higher volumes with constrained staff, responding to evolving material needs, and incorporating greener options.
It includes on-bag printing capabilities and works with both semiautomatic and fully automated setups.
Its compact footprint and user-friendly ergonomics make it suitable for e-commerce operations, direct-to-consumer brands, and third-party logistics firms.
In a statement, Sealed Air noted that the AUTOBAG 850HB enables these providers to address modern fulfillment needs through efficient material handling.
Byron Racki, president of the company’s protective packaging division, commented, “The AUTOBAG 850HB Hybrid Bagging Machine allows customers to quickly shift between bag types without the need for tools or hardware.”
He added that this setup helps operations meet specific client requirements for protection and delivery timelines.
Sealed Air, which manages brands like CRYOVAC, LIQUIBOX, AUTOBAG, and BUBBLE WRAP, serves sectors from food processing to online retail.
A report by the firm shows net sales reached US$1.33 billion in the second quarter of 2025, a slight dip from US$1.34 billion the year prior.
Net earnings came in at US$94 million, or US$0.64 per diluted share, compared to US$98 million, or US$0.67 per share, in the previous period.
This launch builds on Sealed Air’s push into mixed-material automation, following the introduction of its curbside-recyclable Jiffy Embossed Mailer earlier this year.
The hybrid machine fits into a broader industry shift toward flexible, eco-conscious systems.
For instance, PAC Machinery recently debuted the Rollbag R985 automatic bagger in January 2025, which also processes both paper and poly formats in a compact unit.
PAC submitted the device for the 2025 MHI Innovation Award in the sustainability category, highlighting its role in easing transitions to recyclable options without overhauling equipment.
