CHINA – US-based packaging company Silgan Dispensing, a subsidiary of Silgan Holdings, has expanded its MELODIE fragrance pump packaging line to its Wuxi Production Facility in China.

Silgan Dispensing said that its expansion plans in China for the product align with the acceleration of the fragrance market in China, as forecast by marketing research company Mintel.

Silgan Dispensing fragrance marketing director Sandy Gregory said: “This expansion allows us to meet the increasing customer demand we’re seeing in China for fragrance pumps.

“Companies are looking for ultra-premium pumps with excellent performance that align with and enhance their brand image, while also needing local technical and commercial support, short lead times, and responsive, agile service.”

The packaging company said that the new investment in China provides its customers in the country as well as in the Asia-Pacific region a local footprint and the service and quality that key fragrance brand owners in other areas have been accustomed to.

MELODIE is Silgan Dispensing’s star fragrance pump for the luxury market. The offer for Asia features a variety of high-end customization options including the patented invisible dip tube, NoC, for prestige aesthetics, and the highly acclaimed MELODIE FOREVER spray for an optimal consumer experience, creating an emotional connection between the consumer and the brand.

“The implementation of local Chinese production of this product is yet another step in the continuing growth and success of the MELODIE line across the globe,” added Gregory.

“We are excited about this significant and new expansion and look forward to working closely with customers in the region.”

This addition expands Silgan Dispensing’s broad range of products already produced in its Wuxi facility, including PEARL 2, which features the company’s LifeCycle technology.

Meanwhile, in September last year, Silgan launched two new dispensers named ReVive 2cc and ReVive 4cc to offer enhanced product sustainability and performance.

The new dispensers are based on LifeCycle Technology for enhanced sustainability and recyclability of dispensing solutions using patented plastic springs.

According to the firm, the dispenser can be created from a single polyolefin by swapping out the metal springs with these advanced plastic innovations, making it more compatible with the current recycling processes.

Silgan Dispensing personal care and home and garden marketing Director Stephanie Hawkins at the time, said: “We are extremely excited to begin showing ReVive 2cc and 4cc to customers.

“Pumps of these sizes are widely used in beauty and personal care markets and can be found on liquid hand soaps, skincare and body care lotions, and shampoos and conditioners.”
