Somic unveils advanced cartoning machine series to boost automation, efficiency

New solutions highlight smart connectivity and Industry 4.0 capabilities.

GERMANY – Packaging machinery manufacturer Somic Packaging has introduced two new high-performance cartoning machine series designed to enhance automation, operational efficiency and digital connectivity in end-of-line packaging operations.

The Germany-based company revealed the technology during Interpack 2024, where it showcased the machines at its exhibition stand in Hall 14.

The latest systems are aimed at manufacturers seeking flexible cartoning solutions capable of handling a wide range of packaging formats and production speeds.

Headquartered in Amerang, Somic said the new series is designed to support applications ranging from entry-level automated packaging to high-output industrial lines used by food, beverage and consumer goods manufacturers.

“Our new products provide the right solution for every application – from entry-level automated packaging to high-performance production environments,” said Patrick Bonetsmüller, Managing Director of Somic.

“Visitors to Interpack can see how these machines combine increased productivity with improved ease of operation.”

Enhanced automation and operational efficiency

The new cartoning systems incorporate intelligent material-feeding technology and advanced assistance functions designed to improve machine performance while simplifying daily operations for line operators.

Among the key improvements are optimized changeover procedures, allowing faster format adjustments when switching between packaging sizes or product configurations.

The machines also feature improved accessibility to key components, making both format changes and routine maintenance tasks easier and faster.

Such features are increasingly important as manufacturers aim to reduce downtime and maintain high levels of productivity in modern packaging plants.

Focus on connectivity and smart data

Another major focus of Somic’s latest equipment is enhanced connectivity, enabling packaging lines to integrate more effectively into digital production environments.

The machines are equipped with expanded data interfaces that allow manufacturers to monitor performance metrics, analyze operational data and implement predictive maintenance strategies.

This capability supports improved equipment uptime and better long-term operational planning.

By enabling real-time data exchange and analytics, the new cartoning solutions align with the principles of Industry 4.0, which is transforming manufacturing through automation, digitalization and intelligent production systems.

Strengthening end-of-line packaging innovation

Somic has built a strong reputation for developing advanced cartoning and end-of-line packaging technologies used by global food and consumer goods manufacturers.

The company’s latest launch reinforces its strategy of combining mechanical precision with digital intelligence to support increasingly automated packaging environments.

Industry analysts note that demand for highly automated end-of-line solutions continues to grow as companies seek greater flexibility, faster changeovers and improved operational efficiency.

With the introduction of its new cartoning machine series, Somic aims to strengthen its position as a key technology provider for manufacturers looking to modernize packaging lines and adopt smarter, data-driven production systems.
