Sona Signature Papers expands premium portfolio with Cashmere and Gentle VL-Hi White fine-paper ranges

New substrates target high-end packaging, publishing, and speciality print applications.

INDIA – Sona Signature Papers has broadened its speciality portfolio with the launch of Cashmere and Gentle VL-Hi White, two new fine-paper ranges engineered to meet rising demand for high-performance, tactile substrates in premium print and packaging.

As converters, printers, and brand owners increasingly priorities materials that deliver both aesthetic value and production reliability, Sona’s new offerings are positioned to support higher colour accuracy, enhanced sensory appeal, and consistent runnability across diverse applications.

According to Raju Suneja, Director – Marketing at Sona, Cashmere is tailored for professionals who require exceptional surface uniformity and elevated tactile characteristics.

“Cashmere is designed for designers, printers, converters, and brand owners who seek consistency, craftsmanship, and a luxurious tactile profile,” Suneja said.

He added that the range’s solid base, even formation, and availability in high-white and cream shades make it suitable for premium communication and packaging formats.

Despite being uncoated, both Cashmere and Gentle VL-Hi White offer strong ink holdout and dependable colour consistency, qualities increasingly demanded in high-value print work such as brand literature, speciality packaging, and high-impact marketing collateral.

“The new ranges provide a distinct sensory experience, making them ideal for brands that value touch as much as visuals,” said Anup Verma, Country Head – Sales & Marketing at Sona.

“The balance between texture and print clarity gives creative printers a significant advantage.”

Cashmere’s tactile smoothness and refined tonality also position it strongly for luxury and lifestyle categories, including boutique fashion, cosmetics, gourmet foods, and artistic journals.

Board variants within the range are engineered for structural rigidity and crease resistance, ensuring reliable performance in die-cutting, folding, and box-making.

Premium paper demand rising across India

The launch strategically aligns with India’s expanding premium and speciality paper market, driven by growth in luxury packaging, high-end publishing, and corporate identity programs.

Industry converters report increasing preference for uncoated fine papers that offer elevated tactile engagement without compromising print fidelity.

Globally, brands are also adopting textured and sensorial substrates as part of broader premiumization and sustainability strategies.

Recent developments, including new tactile grades introduced in Southeast Asia and high-brightness speciality papers in Europe, point to a growing shift toward materials that enhance perceived brand value while offering production efficiency.

With Cashmere and Gentle VL-Hi White, Sona Signature Papers aims to strengthen its footprint in this evolving segment, delivering substrates that support both design creativity and operational precision for India’s print and packaging industries.
