GERMANY – TricorBraun, a US-based rigid packaging entity, has successfully finalized the acquisition of Glassland, a provider of glass packaging, for an undisclosed sum.

Glassland offers an extensive array of sophisticated glass bottle and closure designs catering to the alcohol industry and diverse clientele in Germany and Switzerland.

This strategic move enhances TricorBraun’s premium glass packaging division, Vetroelite, fortifying its presence in Germany and expanding its overall footprint across Europe.

Declan McCarthy, President of TricorBraun Europe, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “The Glassland team exhibits equal fervor for customer service and design, resulting in the establishment of a longstanding business with a commendable reputation.

“We extend a warm welcome to Glassland, anticipating our collaboration in fostering their sustained growth.”

In adherence to the agreement, all Glassland team members will seamlessly transition to TricorBraun, continuing their operations from the Bonn site in Germany.

Following the transition period, the German glass packaging entity will be fully assimilated into Vetroelite.

McCarthy further articulated, “TricorBraun’s history of successful acquisitions stems from partnerships with robust companies, creating avenues for team member and business expansion.

“This strategic acquisition not only propels the growth of Glassland, Vetroelite, and our team but also offers enhanced services and local alternatives for customers.”

Since its inception, TricorBraun has collaborated with management teams to effectively acquire and expedite the growth of 41 packaging firms globally.

Johannes Huth, founder and CEO of Glassland, remarked on this pivotal moment, stating, “Uniting with TricorBraun and Vetroelite marks an exciting chapter in Glassland’s journey. This collaboration grants access to global resources and expertise while upholding our commitment to unparalleled customer service.

“We eagerly anticipate future growth in the beer, spirits, and wine sectors in Switzerland, along with serving various packaging segments – beyond glass – with TricorBraun’s backing.”

In August, TricorBraun completed the acquisition of beverage packaging business CanSource, expanding its capabilities and strengthening its position in the North American beverage packaging market.

Based in Longmont, CanSource provides brite, shrink-sleeved, and printed cans to the craft beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverage markets. The company operates from four locations across the US, including headquarters near Denver, CO.

Following the deal, all CanSource team members remained with TricorBraun and continues to work out of the company’s existing locations.
