GHANA – Twellium Industrial Company, a leading beverage manufacturer in West Africa, has partnered with global packaging solutions provider Sidel to open a cutting-edge production facility in Kumasi, Ghana.
This strategic collaboration aims to meet the rising demand for beverages in the region while solidifying Twellium’s market leadership.
The new facility features two advanced polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging lines capable of producing a variety of beverages, including still and carbonated water, soft drinks, and energy drinks.
Leveraging Sidel’s technology, the lines deliver high-speed production, flexibility, and superior efficiency.
One of the plant’s standout features is Africa’s fastest complete PET water line, which produces 80,000 bottles per hour using Sidel’s Combi solution.
This technology integrates blow moulding, filling, and capping into one compact unit. The facility is further enhanced with a modern water treatment room and an automated cleaning-in-place (CIP) system.
Additionally, the Kumasi plant boasts a high-speed carbonated soft drink line, capable of producing 65,000 bottles per hour.
Like the water line, it uses Sidel’s Combi solution and includes a customized EvoDECO Roll-Fed labeller. This labeller applies QR codes to bottle caps, ensuring enhanced traceability and compliance with local regulations.
This partnership is expected to significantly impact Ghana’s beverage industry. Twellium’s investment in advanced technology will not only meet the growing demand but also generate job opportunities and boost the local economy.
“Sidel’s complete PET packaging lines for Twellium ensure we meet production demands efficiently, allowing us to keep up with the constant increase in demand,” said Ali Ajami, Twellium’s marketing director.
“This collaboration drives efficiency and supports regional employment, further establishing Twellium as a leader in Ghana’s beverage industry.”
This isn’t Sidel’s first major investment in Ghana. Last year, the company equipped Niche Cocoa Industry Ltd with its first-ever aseptic line, enabling the production of milk-based products in PET.
The 16,000-bottle-per-hour aseptic PET line includes Tetra Pak processing technologies and Sidel’s Aseptic Combi Predis system, which uses dry sterilization for preforms and caps.
Sidel also provided an efficiency improvement tool to reduce downtime, cut waste, and enhance factory output.
