INDIA – Uflex Limited, a prominent packaging film industry player, has signed a long-term agreement to procure renewable energy for its packaging film plant in Dharwad, Karnataka.

This strategic move aligns with UFlex’s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2035 or earlier.

Under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Amplus Phoenix Private Limited, UFlex will source clean energy under a group captive power policy.

This transition to renewable power is expected to slash UFlex’s carbon footprint by approximately 19,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually.

The Dharwad facility, which commenced operations in 2022, boasts cutting-edge production lines for BOPET (biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate), CPP (cast polypropylene), and metallisers. It is pivotal in UFlex’s global manufacturing footprint, spanning nine countries.

Beyond this agreement, UFlex demonstrates its commitment to sustainability through initiatives such as recycling multi-layer plastics and aseptic packaging waste. The company actively shares its expertise globally to promote sustainable practices.

Apoorvshree Chaturvedi, Director of Global Operations for the UFlex Group, underlines the organization’s energy optimization strategy and its firm belief in adopting sustainable practices.

This commitment is for short-term gains and the company’s long-term success and environmental stewardship.

UFlex’s decision to embrace renewable energy is not just a step forward for the company but a significant stride for the entire packaging industry.

By setting a precedent for other companies to explore clean energy solutions, UFlex is leading the way towards a more sustainable future.
