S Walter employs 110 people and operates facilities in Trevose and Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania.

USA – Veritiv Operating Company, a leading packaging solutions provider based in Atlanta, has acquired the packaging distribution division of S. Walter Packaging Corp., a company with a 120-year history of serving retail, hospitality, food and beverage, and fashion markets.
The acquisition, announced on September 2, 2025, integrates S. Walter’s 110 employees and its facilities in Trevose and Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania, into Veritiv’s operations.
According to Veritiv’s CEO, Sal Abbate, the acquisition strengthens the company’s focus on high-value retail packaging.
“S. Walter brings a long-standing customer base, and together we will continue to grow in our ability to serve premium brands with speed, customization, and innovation,” Abbate said.
The move is expected to enhance Veritiv’s direct-to-store services and improve its multi-brand kitting and premium packaging capabilities, offering tailored solutions for modern brands and retailers.
S. Walter’s senior vice-president and chief operations officer, Rob Cunningham, expressed enthusiasm about the merger.
He stated that joining Veritiv opens an exciting new chapter, leveraging Veritiv’s strengths in packaging distribution, automation, design, and fulfillment to expand their reach.
Gordon Summerfield, S. Walter’s senior vice-president of sales and marketing, added that the combined capabilities will deliver significant value to customers, emphasizing the potential for growth and enhanced service offerings.
Veritiv, which operates distribution centers primarily in the US and Mexico, provides a range of products and services, including packaging, janitorial, hygiene, print, and publishing solutions.
The acquisition follows Veritiv’s recent purchase of Orora Packaging Solutions in December 2024, which added nearly 3,000 employees and expanded its specialty packaging capabilities.
A report by a leading packaging industry news source noted that Veritiv also acquired Arjay Company in December 2024, further strengthening its presence in the New York metropolitan area and enhancing its national footprint for packaging distribution.
Legal counsel for the S. Walter acquisition was provided by McDermott Will & Schulte, ensuring a smooth transaction process.
The integration of S. Walter’s expertise is anticipated to drive innovation and improve service delivery for Veritiv’s customers across various industries.
With this acquisition, Veritiv continues to expand its capabilities, offering comprehensive packaging solutions to meet the evolving needs of its global customer base.
This strategic move comes as Veritiv also announced plans to sell its rigid containers business to TricorBraun, expected to close in early 2025, allowing the company to focus on its core specialty packaging operations.
