Al Bayader’s new US$50M Dubai hub to produce 30,000T of food packaging annually

UAE – Al Bayader International has signed a deal with National Industries Park to build an AED 180 million (approximately US$50 million) integrated manufacturing and logistics hub in Dubai, adding 30,000 tonnes of annual food packaging capacity for the hospitality, tourism, and food service sectors across the GCC.

Spanning over 678,000 square feet, the development will include manufacturing space, a robotics-enabled fulfilment centre, headquarters, and employee accommodation. Construction begins in 2026, with full operations targeted for early 2028. 

Once operational, the facility will produce 10,000 tonnes of paper-based packaging and 20,000 tonnes of circular plastics including rPET annually. Additional lines for aluminium-based and bio-based packaging will follow.

Why Vertical Integration Matters for Food Packaging

The hub integrates manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution under one roof, cutting lead times for food businesses across the Gulf. 

A food service operator in Riyadh currently waits weeks for packaging shipped from China or Europe. 

With local production, delivery time drops to days. 

The robotics-enabled fulfilment centre automates order picking and packing, reducing labour costs and error rates. 

Al Bayader already serves customers across the GCC, and the expanded capacity positions it to increase regional exports. 

Abdulla Al Hashmi, Global COO of Parks and Economic Zones at DP World, stated that packaging influences product quality, sustainability, and supply chain resilience, and that expanding regional manufacturing capacity in this sector enhances reliability, shortens supply cycles, and strengthens the broader trade ecosystem across the GCC.

Circular Plastics Capacity

The 30,000 tonnes of circular plastics capacity signals a shift toward recycled materials. rPET is already used in beverage bottles and food trays, but its use in broader food packaging is growing. 

For a food brand committed to increasing recycled content, sourcing rPET packaging from Al Bayader reduces the need to import from Europe. 

The facility will incorporate low-emission production lines, solar energy, advanced water and waste management systems, and an on-site water treatment plant. Landscaped green areas and a botanical garden will be irrigated using recycled water.
