The Ocean Action Labels range offers white and clear top-coated PP films made from chemically recycled ocean-bound plastic.

UK – A4 Labels has launched its Ocean Action Labels range, featuring white and clear top-coated PP film made from chemically recycled ocean-bound plastic, certified under ISCC PLUS, with the Fishersgate-based manufacturer removing 4,231kg of marine waste through its Seven Clean Seas partnership.
The new range uses ocean-bound plastic waste at high risk of reaching the sea from coastal areas with poor or non-existent waste management, with such material estimated to account for around 80 percent of plastic marine litter.
The material is designed as a drop-in solution with identical properties to virgin PP film, requiring no changes to existing packaging processes or equipment, making it suitable for demanding applications including food and cosmetics packaging.
The ISCC PLUS certification uses the mass balance approach, a chain-of-custody method that allows manufacturers to attribute recycled content to specific products without physical separation of materials.
Drop-In Solution Eliminates Performance Trade-Offs in Food and Cosmetics Packaging
The Ocean Action Labels range includes white and clear top-coated PP film made from chemically recycled ocean-bound plastic, which holds the same performance qualities as virgin PP film.
This chemical recycling process ensures the material meets the quality standards required for food and cosmetics packaging applications.
To date, via its partnership with Seven Clean Seas, A4 Labels has supported the removal of 4,231kg of plastic waste from the ocean and cleaned 29,154 metres of Indonesian coastline, equivalent to 266 football fields in one of the regions most affected by marine pollution.
Mass Balance Approach and Seven Clean Seas Partnership Drive Traceability
The ISCC PLUS certification using the mass balance approach provides third-party verification of the recycled content claims.
The mass balance system allows manufacturers to attribute the use of sustainable inputs to specific product lines while maintaining production efficiency, with independent certification bodies verifying the flow of sustainable materials through supply chains.
A4 Labels’ Eco-Pledge partnership with Seven Clean Seas supports certified plastic recovery projects in Southeast Asia, with the organisation having recovered over 7,000,000 kg of ocean-bound plastic since its founding.
