Ankit Graphics invests in Esko CDI crystal quartz technology

Since flexo plate quality directly affects print resolution, ink transfer, and registration accuracy, investments in imaging technology are central for converters aiming to match gravure and offset standards.

INDIA – Ankit Graphics has invested in Esko’s CDI Crystal Quartz technology in the 4260 format, as the flexographic plate maker continues to upgrade its prepress and imaging capabilities to meet growing demand for high-quality packaging print.

The CDI Crystal Quartz is a computer-to-plate imaging system designed for flexographic printing plates.

The 4260 format accommodates larger plate sizes, allowing Ankit Graphics to serve packaging converters producing cartons, labels and flexible packaging that require precise dot reproduction and consistent imaging across the plate surface.

Flexo plate quality directly influences print resolution, ink transfer and registration accuracy on press, making investments in imaging technology central to converters seeking to compete with gravure and offset quality standards.

Quartz Technology Enhances Plate Durability and Imaging Precision

The Crystal Quartz system incorporates precision optics and imaging controls intended to deliver sharper dot structures and improved edge definition.

These characteristics matter for high-line-screen flexo printing, where finer dots require more exact imaging to prevent dot gain and tonal variation during press runs.

For plate makers, equipment capable of maintaining consistent output reduces remakes and shortens turnaround times for converters operating on tight production schedules.

Flexo Packaging Demand Drives Equipment Upgrades

India’s packaging sector has expanded rapidly across food, beverage, pharmaceutical and e-commerce segments, driving demand for flexographic printing as converters seek cost-effective production for medium and long runs.

Flexo plates serve corrugated cartons, flexible films, labels and folding cartons, categories where print quality increasingly determines brand owner selection.

Plate makers investing in advanced imaging systems position themselves to serve converters requiring higher resolution, improved registration and faster plate delivery for versioned or short-run work.

Regional Prepress Capabilities Strengthen Supply Chain

Ankit Graphics’ investment reflects broader modernisation across India’s prepress and plate-making segment, where independent plate makers supply flexo converters alongside in-house operations at larger packaging groups.

Access to advanced imaging locally reduces reliance on imported plates and shortens lead times for converters, particularly those serving regional markets where rapid order fulfilment matters.

The upgrade also supports converters transitioning to higher-quality flexo as brands demand near-gravure print standards on flexible packaging, shrink sleeves and premium labels.

For packaging supply chains, improved plate-making capacity strengthens domestic print infrastructure and supports the sector’s ability to meet both local demand and export requirements across the Middle East and Africa.
